조사형 야외학습 프로그램의 개발과 교육적 효과 - 해안사구를 사례로

해안사구를 대상으로 도구/기기를 활용한 조사활동에 초점을 둔 야외조사활동 프로그램을 개발하였다. 학생들은 해안사구의 형성과정과 생태계의 특징을 파악하기 위해 해안사구의 지형을 측량하고, 퇴적물 입도를 분석하고, 풍속을 측정하고, 그리고 식생을 조사한다. 프로그램은 4개 고등학교의 보충수업, 동아리활동, 영재교육 프로그램의 콘텐츠로 활용되었다. 프로그램에 참여한 학생들(N=108)의 해안사구에 대한 이해와 인식, 조사기능력, 동료와의 협력, 동료 및 교사와의 관계에서 긍정적인 변화가 관찰되었다. 교사들은 학생들의 참여와 활동을 강조한 프로그램의 콘텐츠 그리고 도구/기기를 강조한 데이터 수집활동을 장점으로 꼽았다. 창의적체험활동, 대학입학에서 수시입학 비중의 확대 등으로 해안사구 프로그램과 같은 학생들의 창의적 체험을 강조하는 프로그램이 학교교육에서 적용될 가능성이 높아질 것으로 기대된다. An educational fieldwork program with focus on investigating the land form and ecosystem of coastal sand dunes was designed where students measure slopes and distances, particle size distribution of the soil, wind velocity and investigate vegetation cover and sand dune management. This program was used as contents of a variety of programs including supplementary lessons, club activities, gifted education programs of four high schools. The fieldwork experience helped the students (N=108) develop their understanding of coastal sand dunes, acquire the hands-on investigation skills, create a sense of teamwork, and improve relations with peers and their teachers. The teachers appreciated active engagement and involvement of their students in the topic and data collection process using various tools. A series of education reforms including `Creative Experiential Learning Activities` and a university admission system reform emphasizing high school records increase the acceptability of fieldwork programs in high schools.
