하이퍼미디어 기술에 기반한 통합 OPAC구현에 관한 연구

본 연구는 EconRef이라는 통합 OPAC의 구현에 관한 것으로서, 이 모델은 참고사서의 효율적인 업무처리를 가능하게 해주고, 이용자에게 조직적이고 신속한 정보서비스를 제공하는 것이다. 통합 OPAC은 REGIS와 The Book House와 같은 실제의 시스템을 기초로 하여 KPWin++를 이용하여 구현하였다. KPWin++는 전문가시스템 쉘로서 하이퍼텍스트와 전문가시스템이 결합되어 있다. 이 통합 OPAC 시스템은 6개의 모듈로 참고봉사 전문가시스템 ; 문헌정보원, 전문가정보원, 통계정보원 ; OPAC ; 외부데이터베이스 ; 이용자안내 등으로 구성되었다. 시스템의 평가는 EconRef 시스템과 초급사서 및 고급사서를 비교하였고, 하이퍼텍스트와 전문가시스템이 결합된 OPAC인 REGIS 시스템과 비교하였다. 비교결과 EconRef 시스템은 고급사서와 유사한 반면 초급사서 보다는 우수한 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this paper is to design a model of integrated OPAC called as EconRef. This model not only provides users of libraries with systematic, rapid information service, but also supports librarians to do their tasks effectively. The designed model is constructed based on two operating systems such as REGIS system and The Book House and is developed by using KPWin++ is an expert system shell which combines hypertext and expert system functions. The designed system consists of six modules ; three reference expert systems for document sources, experts and statistical sources; OPAC ; external database ; user's guide. For the evaluation of the designed system, performance of EconRef system is compared with that of the naive and expert reference librarians. And also the features of the system are compared with those of REGIS systems. The tests comparing BconRef system searching with librarians searching have shown that EconRef system is at least as good as searching with expert librarians and much superior to searching with naive librarians.

DIALOG와 인터넷 데이터베이스의 검색 효율성에 관한 비교 연구

본 연구에서는 정보시스템과 정보의 유형이 DIALOG와 인터넷 데이터베이스의 검색 효율에 어떤 영향을 미치는 지를 알아 보기 위해서 두 가지 작업을 수행하였다. 첫째는 이 두 시스템의 검색 성능에 대한 기초 자료를 얻기 위해서 두 시스템의 특성을 비교/분석하고 설문지를 통해 에너지 및 경제 분야 정보 이용자들의 정보 이용 행태를 조사하였다. 두 번째는 에너지와 경제 분야의 20개의 정보 질문들을 이용하여 탐색 실험을 하여 두 시스템의 검색 효율성을 측정/비교하였는데 검색 효율성을 좀 더 효과적으로 비교하기 위해서 9가지 가설들을 설정하였다. 연구 결과를 종합해 보면 정보 유형이 DIALOG와 인터넷 데이터베이스 시스템의 적합성에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가설들은 별 무리없이 검증되었으나 DIALOG를 활용한 검색 결과의 적합도가 인터넷을 활용한 경우의 적합도 보다 높을 것이라는 가설은 경제 분야만 통계적으로 검증되고 에너지 분야는 검증되지 못했다. 본 연구 결과에서 상대적으로 인터넷의 검색 효율이 높게 나온 이유로는 먼저 인터넷 검색에서 전문 정보가 비교적 많이 수록된 전문 검색엔진을 사용하게 한 점을 들 수 있고, 둘째는 인터넷 데이터베이스의 질적인 성장을 들 수 있으며, 끝으로 경제 및 에너지 분야의 주제 특성상 인터넷 데이터베이스를 통해 관련 자료를 많이 얻을 수 있지 않았을까 하는 가정을 해 볼 수 있다. This study compared finding economic and energy information on the WWW to finding the same information on DIALOG, a traditional search service. Professional searchers answered 20 questions for end users using either of DIALOG and one Internet database (general search engine or Web database). The relevance of the results in both sets of answers was ranked by searchers and end-users, respectively. The study found that searching for information on the Web took at least twice as long as it did when using DIALOG. Relevance rating was a little higher for materials found on DIALOG. However, the relevance rating difference between two systems was not so higher than we expected. From the research results, we conclude that Internet database including Web database and general search engines is providing valuable information of economic and energy subject areas.
