A rolling stocks has variously enlarged passenger train, subway, KTX, magnetic levitation propulsion train, monorail train, even computer controlled train, etc.. The faster a railroad rolling stock is developed, the more important ESA(Electric/Electronic Sub Assembly) is brought into relief. Now, the test for ESA is over 90% among vibration tests for railroad rolling stocks. However, mechanism-centered vibration tests are performed in the stage of development although ESA is very important. About electronic sub assembly that is a part of ESA, the comparing results from sine wave vibration test by decuple of KS standard and random wave vibration test by decuple of IEC standard, which are applying most among internal and external vibration standards for train, are arranged and analyzed because that is the reason why this study is started and planed out. That the present thesis become a beginning, which vibration standards for train include not only mechanism-centered vibration tests but also ESA vibration tests, and is made the most of by reference when the vibration test standards are revised, is hoped.

The rolling stock which is used the most frequently by public transportation has to secure reliability and safety. In these, vibration is the important factor which causes of serious problem of rolling stock. By the way, rolling stocks vibration test specific activity that is using translating JIS standard is serious mistake, but it is actuality that is used until present more than ten years. Study wishes to analyze problem of standard of domestic rolling stocks and present countermeasure.

Wide range of methodology of reliability prediction for system exists. For railway field, MIL-HDBK-217F, which has not been revised since early in 1990, is used for reliability prediction if historical data is not available. Since this standard has been published, quality and performance of electronic products have been improved rapidly and various kinds of items have been released, however new versions of items could not be released because the prediction standard could not follow up the speed of the production. Thus, this thesis introduces Telcordia SR-332 Issue 2 and would like to compare and analyze the result from MIL-HDBK-217F together with some cases we performed.
