This research deals with evaluation of machining accuracy for Parallel Kinematic Machine Tool(PKMT) applied parallel type robot system with high precision and stiffness. For this purpose, machine simulation is carried out to foreknow collision and interference between workpiece and tool. Furthermore, on the basis of machine simulation data, PKMT is manufactured. Machining accuracy such as cylindricity straightness, squareness, parallelism circularity, concentricity pitch error and yaw error, is measured by using coordinate measuring machine. Test piece for evaluation of machining accuracy is designed and manufactured under the standard of ISO 10791-7.

The aim of this research is to evaluate movement and path characteristics of developed heavy duty handling robot using laser tracker(API T3) according to the ISO 9283 robot perfonnance evaluation criteria. As carry out 3D modeling and simulation using CATIA, a test cube was set up to select moving and measuring range of robot. Performance test for pose and distance accuracy, path and path velocity accuracy under payload zero and 440kgf was accomplished. The resulted output data show the reliability of the developed robot

Recently, parallel kinematic machine tool with high accuracy and stiffness is causing great concern in 5-Axis processing which is applied in manufacturing with complicated shape products. However, there are some inherent difficulties in parallel kinematic machine tool such as a collision between workpiece and tool, over-cut and under-cut, verification of tool path route in progress. To solve these problem in advance, it needs machine simulation of parallel kinematic machine tool above all things. the purpose of this study is, therefore, carried out machine simulation for parallel kinematic machine tool and accumulation of technical knowledge for the productivity and efficiency in parallel kinematic machine tool through verification of 5-Axis machining.
