In order to apply the asset management into the bridge maintenance, the current level of service of each bridge should be first investigated. This study evaluated the level of service of bridges under the service in the field. Depending on the evaluating personnels' prior experience and information the level of service could be varied. The weight factor for each performance measure may need to be re-examined for better incorporation of the importance of structural behavior or condition of bridges. In addition, the current evaluating criteria is more like qualitative rather than quatitative, and hence may cause deviations between the evaluating personnels. Therefore, there is a strong research intends on the development of a specific quantitative criteria.

Pozzolanic materials are often incorporated into the concrete to improve strength and durability of concrete. These include fly ash, silica fume, ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS), and other calcined natural pozzolanic materials such as rice husk ash and metakaolin. Rice husk ash, produced by controlled burning of the rice husk, is a very reactive pozzolanic material which is comparable to the silica fume. This study investigates the freeze-thaw resistance of rice husk ash incorporated concrete. Experimental variables include w/c ratio of 0.38 and 0.45 and addition of silica fume and r ice husk ash. Each mineral admixture replaced the cement content by 5% and 10%. The rice husk ash incorporate concrete specimen showed very comparable freeze-thaw resistance even without the use of air-entraining.
