OEB(Open Electronic Book) 표준을 지원하는 Viewer의 설계와 구현

e-book is digital contents using IT technology instead of paper. It is carried in Internet and displayed wish Viewer of PC, PDA or terminal. The Open eBook specification is to provide a specification for representing the content of electronic books to these viewers. The specification is based on HTML and XML, the same core languages that define the World Wide Web, and is designed to allow publishers and authors to deliver their material in a single format. In this paper, we design and implement the viewer that can support OEB(Open eBook) standard. Viewer is composed parser part and display part. In audition, we add some functions - the book shelf, the bookmark and the dictionary - for convenience of readers.

Recently, RGB images and depth maps have been supplied to academic fields. The depth maps are utilized to the generation of stereoscopic images in the diverse formats according to the users' preference. A variety of methods that use depth maps have been introduced so far. One of applications is a medical field. In this area, the improvement of the perceptual quality of 2D medical images has gained much interest. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme that expands the conventional method to 3D stereoscopic image, thereby achieving the perceptual depth quality improvement as well as 3D stereoscopic perception enhancement at the same time. For this, contrast transformation as well as depth darkening are proposed and their performance is validated through the subjective test. Subjective experiments peformed for stereoscopic enhancement as well as visual fatigue validate that the proposed method achieves better 3D perception than the usage of the original stereoscopic image and suggests the limitation in terms of the visual fatigue.

정보통신 서비스 중의 하나인 비디오텍스 서비스는 기존의 공중통신망(PSTN)을 통하여 여러 나라에서 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 기존 비디오텍스 시스템에서는 단순한 메뉴 방식을 이용하여 텍스트나 그래픽스 위주의 데이타 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 텍스트, 그래픽스뿐만 아니라 이미지, 음성, 동화상과 같은 멀티미디어 데이타를 제공하는 비디오텍스 서버를 설계 및 구현한다. 사용자들이 PC 터미널 상에서 멀티미디어 데이타를 쉽게 검색할 수 있도록 하기 위하여 하이퍼텍스트 기법을 수용하며, 특히 기존의 많은 하이퍼텍스트 시스템에서 공통적인 개념을 제공하고 있는 덱스터 하이퍼텍스트 참조 모델을 기반으로 한다. 방대한 양의 멀티미디어 데이타를 효율적으로 저장하고 검색하기 위하여 EXODUS 저장 시스템을 사용한다. 또한 사용자가 시스템을 다루기 위한 명령어로서 기존 비디오텍스 시스템의 하나인 Bachal 시스템의 심볼 체계를 사용하며, 멀티미디어 및 하이퍼텍스트 기능과 관련된 동작들을 지원하기 위하여 이를 확장한다.

As one of information services, videotex services are widely used in many countries through the Public Switched Telephone Network. However, currently available videotex systems support mainly text- and graphics-based services using a simple menu driven method. In this paper, we design and implement a videotex server that can provide multimedia data such as sound, images and motion videos, in addition to currently supported texts and graphics. In order for the users at PC terminal to retrieve multimedia data conveniently and efficiently, we add hypertext capability based on the Dexter hypertext reference model, which provides interoperability and portability among hypertext systems. In order to store and retrieve a large volume of multimedia data objects efficiently, we use the EXODUS storage system. Finally, we employ the symbol system in the Bachal, a videotex system, as user-interactive commands, and extend it for dealing with more actions related with multimedia and/or hypertext functions. We have implemented our system in a real environment. The application service constructed using our system shows convenient functions and good performance.
