The use of complex fertilizer for potato containing relatively high content of phosphate compared with nitrogen and potassium may attribute to high content of available phosphate of soil cultivating potato in mountainous highland. This experiment was conducted at two sites of a farm in Pyeongchang, one of the major potato cultivating county in Korea, in order to examine the effect of recommended fertilization on yield and quality of potato and soil chemical characteristics. Significant difference in growth and yield characteristics of potato was not observed between fertilization based on soil testing and conventional fertilization of potato cultivating farms. Recommended fertilization resulted in relatively low content of available phosphate and exchangeable potassium in soil in comparison with conventional fertilization. Solid and starch contents of potato for recommended fertilization were not significantly different from those for conventional fertilization. The results obtained from the study imply that fertilization based on soil testing or customized fertilization may improve soil characteristics and ensure yield and quality of potato.

In this study, a correlation analysis between a process variable and shape error in a flexible stretch forming is conducted using finite element method. The forming variables which affect to the shape error are punch size, objective curvature radius and elastic pad thickness. Numerical simulations for calculating of the shape error are carried out by factorial design. The shape error is calculated and the correlation analysis is also performed according to width and tensile directions. Consequently, the correlation coefficient is deducted and it describes that the shape error is in proportional to the punch size and is in inverse to the objective curvature radius and the elastic pad thickness.

This paper deals with a usefulness verification of stretch forming process using flexible die. The stretch forming method is widely used in aircraft and high-speed train industries for manufacturing of skin structure, which is made of sheet metal. A great number of solid dies are originally used and developed for specific shapes with respect to different curvature radii of the skin structures. Accordingly, flexible stretch forming process is proposed in this study. It replaces the conventional solid dies with a set of height adjustable discrete punches. A usefulness of the flexible die is verified through extensive numerical simulations of the stretch forming process for simply curved sheet plate. The elastic recovery in considered and formability evaluations are conducted through a comparison of symmetry plane configurations.
