This paper analyzes the pittings cause of elevators worm gear type traction machine. To find a cause of pitting problem, we analyzed vibration, a proper design allowance and lubrication. We brought a conclusion that the cause of pitting is not a simple vibration problem, such as misalignment of worm reducer and rail, but mostly related to a designed allowance. In this case, the allowance is tight. In general, the allowance of traction machine and lubrication is varied by manufacturers. When the allowance is tight, a proper lubrication can diminish the pitting problem.

The necessity of diagnosis of the rotating machinery which is widely used in the industry is increasing. Many research has been conducted to manipulate field vibration signal data for diagnosing the fault of designated machinery. As the pattern recognition tool of that signal, neural network which use usually back-propagation algorithm was used in the diagnosis of rotating machinery. In this paper, self-organizing feature map(SOFM) which is unsupervised learning algorithm is used in the abnormal vibration diagnosis of rotating machinery and then learning vector quantization(LVQ) which is supervised learning algorithm is used to improve the quality of the classifier decision regions.

The elevator inspection, which was conducted in 2012, was performed by introducing the EN code; however, this code was applied only to the MRL elevators based on a complete revision of the domestic inspection standards. With the introduction of new standards, items that can help verify various types of performances, are now included in the standard. This requires the use of different inspection instruments to for the verification of the various performances. Among them, in the case of an automatic power-operated door, the magnitude of the door kinetic energy is verified to confirm the impact on the user when the door is closed. This magnitude is measured by the inspector using an instrument in the field or a test report submitted by the manufacturer after the tests. Various instruments, including internal development products and foreign instruments, are used for this purpose. Thus, in measuring the kinetic door energy in the field, the value of each device will be different and all the obtained values may not reliable and valid. In this study, we address the aforementioned issue by varying the structure of the internal development product. The validity of the measured value was confirmed by developing and applying a calibration method.

3-Axis sensor measurement system is needed for measuring ride quality of elevator. But because 3-Axis piezoelectric accelerometer is expensive. We developed 3-Axis sensor system which is suitable for measuring ride quality of elevator using cheap MEMS sensor. There are two types of MEMS sensor that are piezoresistive and capacitive type. The excellence of piezoresistive type in characteristic of frequency response and noise is confirmed compare to capacitive type as a result of this paper’s experiment and reference. 3-Axis system using MEMS sensor needs MEMS’s proper frequency response characteristic. Additionally noise characteristic of sensor and circuit, stiffness of assembly are needed for deciding frequency range and accuracy of amplitude.

Horticultural binders are devices that bind the stem and branches of vine crops to struts and wire. These devices are operated by the hands of an operator, and the weight of the product increases the fatigue of the operator. In particular, the aging and feminization of labor force has led to a significant increase in demand for lightweight products. In this study, the design of lightweight parts for horticultural binders was carried out taking into account its compatibility with the existing products. Topology optimization was conducted on the part to identify areas that can be reduced and then the lightweight design was accomplished by sequentially removing the parts with minimum stress and deformation using structural analysis technique.

In Korea, the first elevator was introduced in 1910. Thereafter, Korea has been ranked 3rd in installation and 7th in maintenance worldwide. During the last five years, an average of 35 000 elevators per year have been installed, and the total number of installed elevator increases every year. In Korea, 92.1 % of the elevator malfunctions are to be stuck in an elevator. When passengers are stuck in an elevator, elevator maintenance personnel or firefighters usually rescue them; however, the number of firefighter rescues has been increasing compared to the number of new elevators installed. Along with the increase in being stuck in an elevator and the increase in the number of firefighter rescues, anxiety of elevator passengers and social costs are also increasing. Hence, there is a need to find a method to reduce these incidences. Therefore, it is essential to develop an intelligent rescue system using video, video, vibration, noise and elevator’s malfunction signal for various hazard pattern recognition. In this study, we propose a new technology that can prevent incidents such as being stuck in an elevator, violence or collapse, and minimize the gap in field management through a fast and accurate hazard prediction and response method based on machine learning.
