A mathematical model is devised for the estimation of the pitting corrosion rate in the carbon-steel nuclear-waste container. The concentrations of ions and compounds in a pit was calculated numeratically by considering the chemically- and electrically- driven migrations of them FeCl₂ was added in the model to the convetionally-considered Fe^(2+), FeOH^(+), Cl^(-), Na^(+), H^(+), and OH^(-). Also, the oxide crust layer was considered FeCl₂ was found as one of important compounds existing in the pit. The corrosion rate turns out to be very sensitive to the existence of the oxide crust.
