Based on the results of research, designs of academic gowns were developed, and the findings are as follows: First, design 1 applied Aengsam aimed to simplify the composition of clothes and make application easier, and it reproduced the image of traditional dress in modern style. Second, design 2 applied a long crane-white gown to feature straight lined lapels and vertical pleats rather than numerous decorations. It focused on expressing details through a traditional image in the western academic costume. Third, design 3 applied Korean full-dress attire to use the lapel of the attire in the neckline of a gown, and expressed such characteristics of Po as trapezoidal Mu and hem. It aimed to strongly express a traditional image through form and colors. This study is expected to provide a practical solution in order to modernize traditional costume based on the actual application of contemporary designed attire.
