The aim of this paper is to know the relationships between the surface roughness of masonry stones and the dynamic characteristics of stone structures. For this purpose, three types of granite bricks which have different roughness of surface(rough touch with machine, burner finish, saw cut) were made and fundamental frequencies were measured as increasing of the number of brick layers. The order of measured natural frequencies were not in accordance with the order of roughness of surface. The spring constants obtained by using the natural frequencies decreased as increasing of number of layers, and the vibration modes of stone masonry structures were influenced by rocking and flexure as well as swaying and shear.
