Autofrettaged fuel injection pipe has been acccomplished to assure improvement of static strength and duribility of the fuel injecton pipe. Autofrettage was performed by applying the hydrostatic internal pressures of 603 ㎫, 535 ㎫, 500 ㎫ on the fuel injection pipe, corresponding to theoretical 26%, 14%, 9% overstrain levels, respectively. Thus, theoretical autofrettage residual stresses in the fuel injection pipe was analyzed and compared by using the finite element program and experimental X-ray diffractometer, respectively. The analytical and experimental results showed very similar trend with the theoretical solutions. As the overstrain level increased, the magnitude of compressive residual stress at the bore increased.

Autofrettage analysis of a bend in the fuel injcetion pipe has been performed to investigate the distribution of residual stresses due to pipe bending and autofrettage processes. The pipe bending was simulated by metal forming analysis using finite element method, and residual stress distribution after bending was found. Autofrettage following the pipe bending was performed by applying the hydrostatic internal pressures of 603 ㎫, 535 ㎫, 500 ㎫ on the pipe bend, corresponding to theoretical 26 %, 14 %, 9 % overstrain levels, respectively. Residual stress distributions due to bending and autofrettage were evaluated.

This paper describes the development of the rapid battery charger for lead-acid battery. Due to heat which is caused by increased internal resistance during charging, it is difficult to increase charging current for the lead-acid battery. In this paper, the rapid charging algorithm which apply short discharging pulse current during charging procedure is developed and it makes the ion layer, which is generated during charging time, disappeared into electrolyte. The prototype battery charger based on resonant converter is developed for 48V battery charger and test procedure is introduced.
