In the automotive suspension system, especially, Mcpherson strut type, if the resultant of the force through tire and the link reaction force is not coincident with the spring force, the side load against shock-absorber occur. The magnitude of side load is proportional to the difference between resultant force and spring force. To reduce side load, several method can be used, and one is to use the side load coil spring. This study summarize the development results of side load coil spring, ie., how to design, analysis, manufacture, and test.<br/>

This thesis describes a theoretical and exprimental investigation of the pressure-time histories of some basic internal combustion engine exhaust systems. The program package is written in Fortran 77 and utilizes the Method of Characteristics to solve the general equations of one-dimensional unsteady gas flow. Using a rotary valve exhaust simulator, experimental pressure-time histories were obtained. The predictions are compared with measured results and show a high degree of correlation.

Based on experimental analysis, the characteristics of pulsating pressure wave propagation is clarified by testing of 4-stroke gasoline engine.<br/> The pulsating pressure wave in exhaust system is generated by pulsating gas flow due to working of exhaust valve. The pulsating pressure wave is closely concerned to the loss of engine power according to back pressure and exhaust noise. It is difficult to exactly calculate pulsating pressure wave propagation in exhaust system because of nonlinear effect. Therefore, in the first step for solving these problems, this paper contains experimental model and analysis method which are applied two-port network analysis.Also, it shows coherence function,frequency response function,back pressure, and gradient of temperature in exhaust system.<br/>

The ignition system of any sparked-ignited internal combustion engine-powered device is well recognized as a major sources of radiated electromagnetic interference(EMI). Measurements of the electromagnetic noise radiated by automotive ignition systems were made at 150 ㎑ ~ 1 ㎓. With the widespread use of various electrical applicances in daily life, there has been an increase in unnecessary radiated electromagnetic waves influencing many spheres of social life. In addition to the radiation of unnecessary electromagnetic waves by electrical machinery, considerable noise arises from ignition systems of internal combustion engine. Automotive ignition noise is due to fast rise-time(impulsive) currents that flow in the vehicle's wiring. The three major sources of impulses are the breakdown in the distributor of the gap between the rotor and the posts, the breakdown of the spark plug gap, and the closure of the breaker points. Each of these sources can be threated individually to suppress the ignition noise.<br/>
