If the pressure in the barrel of hydraulic injection machine during injection increases and approximately becomes a set pressure of relief valve, the measured injection velocity starts decreasing to some value which is determined from characteristics of hydraulic system. Finally, it doesn’t follow the set velocity. This characteristic is a demerit in case of precision molding but comes to a merit for the quality of molded products because there are no quick changes of velocity and pressure when the filling pressure becomes a set pressure. In case of the electric injection machine which cannot have an apparatus like a relief valve, many control algorithms with similar characteristics were developed by almost all injection machine vendors. We call these algorithms as the filling control algorithm under pressure limit in this paper and want to propose a new algorithm.

There are many clamping mechanisms for hydraulic injection machines. In this paper, we firstly review thecharacteristics of other clamping mechanism. Secondly, we propose our clamping mechanism which has center-press mechanism, compare it with other mechanisms and describe the configuration of driving system. Finally, we will present the performances of position control and response of pressure build-up to prove the functional feasibility of this system,.
