Objectives The purpose of this study is to research related to Taeeumjowui-Tang(Taiyintiaowei-tang) in oriental medicine. Methods "Taeeumjowui-Tang" was used as a search term. In order to see detail review, we classified all the searched study into type, method, purpose, item of evaluation, composition of herbal medication. Results We found out total twenty six studies. They were fifteen pieces of experimental studies, five clinical case studies, five case reports and one literature review according to type and method. There were fourteen thesis that experiments on efficacy and effect in the purpose of study. Only one thesis showed about stability and toxicity. There were eleven prescription of different composition and dosage. In the item of evaluation, serum biochemical analysis, cell study, body and organ weight, food consumption, body mass index, waist circumference, waist-hip circumference ratio, bioelectrical impedance analysis were used. Conclusion To improve more objective and continuous research in oriental medicine, it is needed unity about prescription and dosage, activation of clinical trial research and variation of research subject.

전기자극의 시술에 따른 일회용 호침의 안전성 및 안정성 연구

Objectives: The electroacupuncture was generally has been used in oriental medicine doctors. In recent years, there have been a few studies about safety and stability of acupuncture needle in itself, but then again research of acupuncture needle safety and stability on applying electroacupuncture have been insignificant. Therefore we investigated the safety and change in mechanical characteristic of acupuncture needle in electroacupuncture therapy. Methods: We observed mechanical characteristic change by SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) and EDX(Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy), evaluated the hardness by vickers hardness tester. We used MTT assay and cell stain to study about biocompatibility of electroacupuncture. Results: In this study, any corrosion of material, alternation of elements, and change of hardness were not observed in surface analysis using SEM and EDX. In cytotoxity evaluation using MTT assay and cell stain, cell survival rate was low when practicing the electroacupuncture for more than 3 hours. Conclusions: Change of mechanical property was not observed based on the test results using surface analysis and hardness estimation by the electroacupuncture. And considering the biocompatibility, electroacupuncture was thought to be safe in an hour based on cytotoxity evaluation using MTT assay and cell stain.

의이인탕 과립제가 고지방식이로 비만이 유도된 C57BL/6J Mice에 미치는 항염증 및 항비만 효과

Objectives :The study was designed to experiment anti-inflammation and anti-obesity effect of Euiiin-tang(yiyiren-tang) granules to the C57 BL/6J mice which was induced obesity by high-fat diet. Methods :We performed a cytotoxicity analysis of Euiiin-tang by MTT assay principles. We investigated the effects of Euiiin-tang on restraining enzyme revelation of inflammation acceleration and hindering inflammation by measuring iNOS, COX-2 and NF-κB revelation. We treated Euiiin-tang to 3T3-L1 in Oil Red O experiment and measured a reduction effect of accumulation of fat. In order to investigate the obese inhibitory effects of Euiiin-tang, C57BL/6 mice were induced by high fat diet. C57BL/6 mice were divided into three group(normal, high fat diet, high fat diet with Euiiin-tang granules) and fed for 6weeks. The measurements have been performed on ; the body weight ; the weight of mice’ liver, kidney and epididymal AT ; the quantity of AST, ALT, γ-GTP, BUN, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, plasma insulin, blood leptin. Results :After an experiment of measuring iNOS and COX-2 revelation, Euiiin-tang showed efficacy of restraining enzyme revelation of inflammation acceleration. Treating Euiiin-tang hindered vitality of NF-κB, so we could identify effects of hinderance of inflammation. It was shown that accumulation of fat was significantly reduced after treating Euiiin-tang to 3T3-L1 in Oil Red O experiment. After treating Euiiin-tang in oral for 6 weeks’ experiment, it was identified that it had an efficacy of restraining body weight gain. As a result of measuring the weight of mice’ liver, kidney and epididymis, the weights were reduced comparing with high fat diet group, so it came out that it has prevention effect in accumulation of fats. The AST, ALT, γ-GTP, BUN levels were lower in group of Euiiin-tang than that of high fat diet group. In terms of blood lipids, it was verified that total cholesterol level was in normal range with group of Euiiin-tang and HDL cholesterol level was higher than that of the high fat diet group. While concentration of plasma insulin was lower in group of Euiiin-tang than that of high fat diet group. Also the blood leptin concentration was lower in group of Euiiin-tang than that of high fat diet group. Conclusions :From all these results, it can be concluded that the Euiiin-tang showed a significant efficacy as obesity treatment and it is thought to be a safe treatment that we could expect even the efficacy of anti-inflammatory.

교통사고로 유발된 요통 환자의 요천각, 전만각 및 IVD각에 대한 임상적 고찰

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation of Ferguson`s angle, Lumbar lordotic angle, Lumbar IVD angle in traffic accident patients. Methods: Total patients were classified into TA(traffic accident) inpatients and non-TA(lumbago) inpatients. We analyzed the characteristics of each group Ferguson`s angle, Lumbar lordotic angle, L4-5 IVD angle, L5-S1 IVD angle on X-ray film. Results: 1. Ferguson`s angle and Lumbar lordotic angle were smaller than normal range. Non-TA group`s angles were smaller than TA group`s angles. 2. L4-5 IVD angle of female showed smaller than that of male in TA groups. The older age was, the smaller L4-5 IVD angle was at non-TA groups. 3. L5-S1 IVD angle of female showed smaller than that of male in total groups. The older age was, the smaller L5-S1 IVD angle was at non-TA groups. 4. Ferguson`s angle, Lumbar lordotic angle, Lumbar IVD angle were related with direct proportion in total groups. 5. Non-TA groups showed more effective VAS variation than TA groups. Conclusions: Lumbar angles were intimately related with each others. And lumbar angles have an effect on curative value.

Sarcopenic Obesity에 대한 연구 동향 고찰

The purpose of this study is to work on the direction of the study with regard to the sarcopenic obesity. Methods We searched articles relative to sarcopenic obesity in the KyungHee University Meta-analysis database. We classified articles according to type of study and subject clinical characteristics, assessment, medical complications and treatment. Results and Conclusion Data from this pilot study showed that sarcopenic obesity is associated with metabolic abnormality, cancer, increased frailty, physical disability and inflammatory markers. Therefore, clinical studies are needed to demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of management for sarcopenic obesity.

가족성 척추측만증(Familial Scoliosis)의 증례보고

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the concept of familial scoliosis through eight cases. Methods : The family tree was constructed with eight cases which was diagnosed idiopathic scoliosis by physical examination and radiological study. Results : According to the family tree of this sibs, idiopathic scoliosis apparently behaves as an autosomal dominant inheritance. As to parents and grandparents, although they are not confirmed the appearance of idiopathic scoliosis, we know that they transmit trait to their descendants as a genotype. Conclusions : This study is shown that idiopathic scoliosis has a familial condition and provided useful information that can be used early diagnosis and treatment with screen tests based on the family tree.

원저 : 의이인탕 추출방법에 따른 생리활성 연구

The purpose of this study is to investigate biological effects of Euiiin-tang(yiyiren-tang) extracts by extraction methods. Methods To investigate the effects of anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activity, we measured DPPH radical scavenging assay, collagenase inhibition assay and COX-2 inhibition assay. Results In case of measuring anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities of Euiiin-tang(yiyiren-tang) by collagenase and COX-2 inhibition activity, it came out that Euiiin-tang(yiyiren-tang) was unable to inhibit collagenase, but was effective to inhibit COX-2. Cytotoxicity analysis of Euiiin-tang(yiyiren-tang) extracts by MTT assay principles, there was no cytotoxicity in aqueous and 50% ethanol extracts in any level of concentration. Conclusions This results suggest that Euiiin-tang(yiyiren-tang) extracts have anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities.

저출력레이저치료가 어깨통증에 미치는 임상적 효과

Objectives :The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical effects of low level laser therapy on shoulder pain. Methods :From October 1, 2009 to November 14, 2009, we applied 15 participants who consented to an assignment had a shoulder pain to low level laser therapy(LLLT). We treated LLLT 8 times on both upper trapezius, levator scapular, pectoralis, suboccipital, rhomboid, rotator cuff tender point for 2 weeks. To evaluate the efficiency of low level laser therapy, we used questionnaire of shoulder pain symptom, questionnaire of a day living discomfort scale, shoulder pain and disability index(SPADI) and pressure pain threshold(PPT) at before treatment and after treatment 4 times and 8 times. Results :There was a significant difference in questionnaire of shoulder pain symptom, questionnaire of a day living discomfort scale, SPADI and PPT after 8th treatment. Conclusions :Low level laser therapy for shoulder pain is effective to improve patients` symptoms measured with questionnaire of pain and a day living discomfort score, SPADI and PPT significantly.

Objectives The aim of this study is to review and analyze the status on the recent clinical trials of ``obesity`` and ``metabolic syndrome``. Methods We search ``www.clinicaltrail.gov`` for research trend of obesity and metabolic syndrome. Search terms used were ``obesity`` and ``metabolic syndrome``. In order to see detail review, searching was performed from 01, 01, 2007 to 05, 31, 2009 with intervention, phase Ⅲ or phase Ⅳ. 16 And we classified all the searched studies into design, intervention, purpose, end point, diseases and condition. Results We could search total 232 trials. Of them, we found 32 trials with intervention, phase Ⅲ or phase Ⅳ from 01, 01, 2007 to 05, 31, 2009. Also we could see various design of clinical trials. Conclusion To improve obesity and metabolic study in Traditional Korean Medicine, it is need to activate clinical trial, meta analysis, develope of clinical practice guidelines, co-works with conventional medicine and etc.

추나의학 용어 표준화 필요성 연구

Objectives: Although chuna medicine has progressed distinguishingly, yet chuna medical terminology hasn't been standardized. So there are a lot of difficulties in translating chuna related book and their meaning cannot be conveyed properly. For this reason, we could say standardization of chuna medical terminology is very essential. Purpose of our study was to develope a standard database of concept terms for chuna medicine, in addition, we considered establishing fundamental principles of chuna medical terminology. Methods: To select standard chuna medical terms, we sorted important chuna medical index words. Then we sorted those words into a group that has same meanings and united to one single term. In the meantime, we extracted index words from 26 domestic and foreign manual technique related books and sorted them out and based on these word, we translated chuna medical terms to Korean terms. In the case of chuna technique terms, we searched chuna text books for term those were wrongly used, and corrected them by suggesting fundamental principles of terminology. Results: 664 chuna words were selected as standard chuna terms and have been translated to English terms. In the process, adscititious words such as anatomical terms and title of books were exempted and selected only important words that could be used as index of chuna terms. In deciding essential elements of chuna technique terms, patient position, contact point, segmental contact point, malposition, procedure method were selected. Conclusions: Correcting chuna medical terms in a sort period could cause confusion, but in long term perspective, in the aspect of conveying the meaning clearly and education purpose, standardizing of chuna medical terminology must be done. From this study, standardization of chuna medical terms were chosen in large category, but further studies must be followed in order to standardize terms of subdivisional categories.
