Recently, due to the launching of digital broadcasting service, a demand of PDP TV with large screen size is sharply rising. PDP power module is mainly divided into power factor correction (PFC) stage and sustaining power stage. Especially, sustaining power module has pulsating load characteristics. So, the hard switching at light load condition causes low efficiency and thermal problem. Therefore, a new power conversion circuit for sustaining power module of 60" PDP is proposed whose ZVS is obtained by additional ZVS tank. This paper presents properties of the proposed converter through mode analysis, numerical analysis. And a 900W prototype for sustaining power module of 60" PDP is produced to verify the analytic results. As an experimental results, ZVS is achieved from full load to 10% load variation and more than 92% of high efficiency is obtained at 10% load condition.
Zero-Voltage Switching Two-Transformer Full-Bridge PWM Converter With Lossless Diode-Clamp Rectifier

The two-transformer full bridge (TTFB) PWM converter has two transformers which act as the output inductor as well as the main transformer, i.e. as the forward and the flyback transformer. Although the doubled leakage inductor of the TTFB makes it easier to achieve the zerovoltage switching (ZVS) of the lagging leg switch along the wide load range, it instigates a serious voltage ringing in the secondary rectifier diodes, which would require the dissipative snubber circuit, cause the serious power dissipation, and increase the voltage stress across those diodes. To overcome these problems, a new lossless diode-clamp rectifier (LDCR) is employed as the output rectifier, which helps the voltage across rectifier diodes to be clamped on a half the output voltage (Vo/2) or the output voltage (Vo). Therefore, no dissipative snubber for rectifier diodes is needed and a high efficiency as well as low noise output voltage can be realized. The operations, analysis and design consideration of proposed converter are presented in this paper. To verify the validity of the proposed converter, experimental results from a 425W, 385-170Vdc prototype for the plasma display panel (PDP) sustaining power module (PSPM) are presented.

A novel current-fed energy-recovery sustaining driver (CFERSO) for a POP is proposed m this paper Its main idea is to recover the energy stored in the POP or to inject the input source energy to the POP by using the current source built-up in the energy recovery inductor. This method provides zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) of all main power switches, the reduction of EMI, and more improved operational voltage margins with the aid of the discharge current compensation In addition, since the current flowing through the energy recovery inductor can compensate the plasma discharge current flowing through the conducting power switches, the current stress through all main power switches can be considerably reduced. Furthermore, It features a low conduction loss and fast transient time. Operations, features and design considerations are presented and verified experimentally on a I020XI06mm sized POP, 50kHz-switching frequency, and sustaining voltage 140V based prototype.<br/>

Novel single-stage power factor correction AC/DC converter with low DC link voltage using new magnetic feedback technique is proposed in this paper. The Proposed converter has high power factor, tight output voltage regulation and low link capacitor voltage less than 450V for all the load range through the universal input line. This converter has also no dead-zone in the input current, which is seen in the conventional converter using the previous magnetic feedback technique. In this paper, the analysis of operations and features of the proposed converter is provided, and the experimental results of 90W-prototype shows the low harmonic distortions satisfied with EN 61000-3-2 Class D, high power factor and low link voltage less than 450V.

Many single-stage PFC(power-factor-correction) AC/DC converters suffer from the high link voltage at high input voltage and light load condition. In this paper, to suppress the link voltage, a novel high power factor high efficiency PFC AC/DC converter is proposed using the single controller which generates two gate signals so that one of them IS used for gate signal of the flyback DC/DC converter switch and the other is applied to the Boost PFC stage. A 130W prototype for LCD monitor adapter with universal input (90-265V_rms) and 19.5V 67A output is Implemented to verify the operational principles and performances. The experimental results show that the maximum link voltage stress IS about 450 V at 270Vac input voltage. Moreover, efficiency and power factor are over 84% and 0.95, respectively, under the full load condition.
