When trains run over a snow-covered track at high speed, the snow accereted under car bodies may drop during train running. The dropped snow lumps scatter the ballast on the track damaging the car body and the environment along the track in snowy regions. In this study, various countermeasures to prevent the ballast from scattering has been investigated and compared. Furthermore, the implementation of the ballast-flying prevention methods to passing-by station has been examined through which the KTX train passes about 300㎞/h speed.

A standard framework of CFD analysis for railway system has been developed to evaluate the overall aerodynamic performance of railway system and has been adopted to numerical simulation of the pressure field around KTX train. The framework is composed of standard aerodynamic model and standard aerodynamic performance to customize the general CFD solution process reflecting the characteristics of railway system such as various operation mode and performance factors. The results show that the standard framework of CFD analysis for railway system can provide objectivity and consistency to the CFD analysis for railway system and the pressure field around KTX train has been successively solved.
고속열차 350㎞/h 주행시 열차풍이 방음벽 등 궤도에 수직평행한 선로변 구축물에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

After rapid running is begun in domestic, problem by the train gust that was not considered at existent train running appeared. If the High-Speed railway business speed rises by 350㎞/h in the future, is going to become more big problem. This study conducts an experiment that measure in local about KTX train beside Gyeong-Bu High speed railroad track about aerodynamics effect that happen by passage of train and analyzed. In case KTXⅡ runs with the 350㎞/h speed, forecasted effect that get in the simple vertical surfaces parallel to tracks according to distance from rail center. Compared construction size with structural analysis in case do not consider with case that consider the train gust about sound proof walls representatively. As a result, proposed wind load standard that apply at sound proof walls design.

A numerical simulation of passenger evacuation in a subway station was performed by coupling the passenger flow analysis and the fire simulation. The algorithm of the passenger flow analysis was based on a DEM (Discrete Element Method) using the potential map of the direction vector for each passenger. This algorithm was improved in the present study as to use finer grid smaller than a passenger in order to resolve detailed geometry of the station and to resolve the behavior of passengers in the bottleneck at the ticket gate considering the collision of passengers to a wall or with other passengers. In the fire simulation, the CO distribution predicted by using CFD was used to take into account the effect of toxic gases on the passengers' mobility. The methodology proposed in the present study could be used in designing safer subway station in case of fire occurrence.

In the present study, a numerical simulation of passenger evacuation in a subway station was performed. Algorithm for passenger flow analysis based on DEM(Discrete Element Method) has been improved to simulate passenger flow in detailed geometry. The effect of grid density was assessed in the present study to show the advantage of using finer grid in the simulation. The method of coupling passenger flow and fire simulation has also been investigated to analyze passenger evacuation flow under fire. In this method the CO distributions in the subway station was used to assess fire hazards of passenger by means of FED(Fractional Effective Dose) model. Using the coupled algorithm a simulation for passenger evacuation flow and fire analysis were performed simultaneously in the simplified subway station. This algorithm could be used in the design of subway station for the purpose of passengers' safety in case of fire.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between spatial layout and space use pattern in subway station. Details investigation is carried out using space syntax method and observation of people"s movement in Kangnam subway station. Space syntax method describes spatial layout quantitatively. The study reveals that space use pattern can be predicted by spatial layout of subway station using space syntax method. This study suggests that by applying space syntax method in planning stage we can design subway station objectively considering passenger"s movement.
