The rate constants for the nucleophilic substitution reactions of 9-chloromethylanthracene with para-substituted anilines in methanol were conductometrically determined, and the activation thermodynamic parameters, △H+ and △S+, were also evaluated. We concluded that the reaction occurred via a typical SN1 mechanism, and that the result of substituent effect on the reaction seems to be due to the competitive contribution of the solvation of substituted anilines by hydrogen bonding and the electron donating ability. of substituents.

The rate constants for solvolysis of 2-phenanthrenesulfonyl chloride in methanol-water, ethanol-water, acetone-water and acetonitrile-water were conductometrically determined at several temperatures, and the activation parameters were also evaluated. In result, the reaction rates were faster for protic solvents than for aprotic solvents, while n values of Kivinen plots and m values of Grunwald-Winstein plots were much smaller for protic solvents. This was considered in the light of initial state stabilization by hydrogenbonding solvation of the protic solvents. The results also showed that the reaction proceeds via the SN2 mechanism in which bond cleavage precedes bond formation a little at the transition state in all solvent systems.

We have investigated the effect of experimental experiences on the impro vement of creativity. Testing data were obtained fro m sixty high school freshmen(thirty males and thirty females) in Chonnam province by exercising basic training course(8h) and laboratory work (I5h). Creativity-test(Tung and Lee, 1980) was done for all subjects by pretest and posttest to estimate the effect of experimental experiences on the improvements of creativity. In th is study we have concluded that : (1) the experimental experiences show the significant effect on the impro vement of creativity (2) the experimental experiences are more effective for building flexibility, originality, elaboration, fluency and openness than organization personality factor (3) sexual difference makes no significant difference.

The fundamental concepts for molecular models are explained in terms of the consequences of the VSEPR theory in order to pigeonhole the types and characteristics of them currently available consistituted with three kinds of valence units. From the interchangeability between the shapes and the concepts of models, we discuss the stereochemical phenomena to which these models are effectively applied in chemical education. Finally, we suggest the necessity for the study on the development of the conceptual models to compensate the limitations inherent to iconic models representing images and/or shapes.

The rate constants for the nucleophilic substitution reactions of l-and 2-Chloromethylnaphthalene with various substituted anilines in methanol were conducto-metrically determined at three temperatures(45℃, 50℃ and 55℃) and the activation thermodynamic parameters were caculated. As the electrondonating ability of substituted anilines increased, the rate constants increased. AIso It was found that substituent effects of anilines were linearly correlated with the σ values in the Hammett plot and the values in the Bronsted plot respectively. That the bond-breaking is bigger than bond-formation at the transition state could be expected from the negative slopes of values (-1.06~-1.25) and the positive slopes of ß values (0.36~0.45). Therefore the reaction should be followed dissociative SN2 mechanism and the rate constants of 1-Chloromethylnaphthalene were larger than those of 2-Chloromethylnaphthalene.This fact was also consisted with the result from PMO theory.
유황의 친핵치환반응 (제2보). 아세톤-물 혼합용매에서의 염화벤젠슬포닐의 가용매반응

10~50wt. %아세톤-물 혼합 용매 속에서의 benzenesulfonyl chloride 치환체들의 가용매반응을 속도론적으로 연구한 결과 $S_N2$ 성격이 지배적이었으며 general base-catalyzed반응이 일어나고 있음을 알았다. Kinetic studies of p-substituted benzenesulfonyl chlorides have been carried out in 10~50 wt. % water-acetone mixtures. Results show that $S_N2$ character almost predominates and general base-catalyzed reaction occurs.
카르보닐 탄소 원자의 친핵성 치환반응 (제3보) 아세톤-물 혼합용액에서의 염화벤조일의 가용매반응

아세톤-물 혼합용매속에서의 benzoyl chloride치환체들의 solvolysis반응을 속도론적으로 연구하였다. 결과로 물함량이 적은 부분에서는 2분자과정으로 반응이 진행되고 물함량이 큰 부분에서는 1분자과정이 점점 큰 비율을 차지하게됨을 알았다. Kinetic studies of benzoyl chlorides solvolysis have been carried out in acetone-water mixtures. Results show that bimolecular process predominates in the low water content region but SN1 process becomes increasingly important in the high water content solvent composition.
질산기의 친핵성 치환반응. 아세토니트릴용매에서 질산치환벤질류와 아닐린류와의 반응속도론

순수한 아세토니트릴용매에서 질산파라-치환 벤질과 파라-치환 아닐린간의 친핵성 치환반응에 대한 2차반응속도상수를 전기전도도법으로 구하여 Hammett ${\rho}$x와 ${\rho}$y값 및 Bronsted ${\beta}$값을 계산하였다. 이때 아닐린의 치환기 변화에 따르는 ${\rho}$x는 음의 값으로 주어졌으며 기질의 치환기에 따라서는 U자 모양의 비직선성 Hammett 도시가 얻어졌다. 포텐셜에너지표면 및 양자역학적 모형을 적용하여 치환기 변화에 따른 천이상태 구조의 변화를 고찰하여 본 결과 본 반응은 기질의 치환기의 성질에 따라 결합형성의 정도가 크게 변화하는 $S_{N}2$ 반응 메카니즘으로 진행함을 알 수 있었다. The second-order rate constants for the nucleophilic substitution reactions of para-substituted benzyl nitrates with para-substituted anilines in acetonitrile were conductometrically determined. Hammett ${\rho}$x and ${\rho}$y values and Bronsted ${\beta}$ values were obtained from these kinetic data. The reactions of Benzyl nitrates with the series of anilines showed linear Hammett plots with negative slopes. For the change of substituents in the benzyl nitrates, nonlinear Hammett plots with a concave upwards curve were obtained. We applied the potential energy surface and the quantum mechanical models in order to examine the transition state variations caused by changes in substituents on the nucleophile and the substrate. The results showed that the reaction was proceeded via the $S_{N}2$-type reaction mechanism in which the extent of bond-formation was greatly changed depending on the property of the substituents in substrate.
