        Investigation on zooplankton dynamics was carried out to know seasonal v ariarion in zoopiankton fauna and its mortality in 2002 in waters off Jeju thermal power plant, Korea. Quanutative zooplankton samples were collected in March, June, September and November in five selected stations in study waters. A total of 61 taxa occurred Copepod was most rich in speces number with 34 taxa Seasonally, 18 taxa were observed in March and 24 in June, 44 in September and 28 in November, respectively Maximum abundance of 24,900 in div/m^3 was recorded in September and the minimum was 232 in November Dominant taxa were copecodite, copepod nauplius, Oithona similis and Oikopluera dioika. Mortahty of 14.5% with plant opweation in July was higher than that of 11.2% in September and little impact might exsist on zooplankton fauna in waters off Jeju thermal power plant.

        Zooplankton and phytoplankton samples were collected in ark shell and mussel beds located near Geoje Island in the South Sea, Korea monthly from January to November 2000. Zooplankton abundance appeared to be higher in the mussel bed than that in ark shell bed except early spring. High abundances during May, July and October both in two beds were due to the explosion of Noctiluca scintillans. Dry Weight varied between 2.2 - 191.0 mg/m^3 in the mussel bed and 5.8-93.6 mg/m^3 in ark shell bed, respectively. Copepods, N. scintillans and cirripedia larvae seem to be the major group to control the zooplankton biomass in study waters. Diatoms were major component of phytoplankton community and Skeletonema costatum showed to explode in the mussel bed in November. Phytoplankton standing crops varied between 2,500 - 1,250,000 cells/1 in the surface, 5,000 - 360,000 in the middle depth and 7,500- 757,500 in the bottom of ark shell bed, respectively. In mussel bed, 5,000-1,204,500 in the surface 7,500-557,500 in the middle and 5,000-1,000,000 in the bottom, respectively. Standing crops were low in the spring and high from summer through late autumn. Dominant species were Eucampia zodiacus and Gobyaulax polygramma in ark shell bed in January and February. Nitschia spp. and Rhizosolenia spp. dominated in mussel bed in May and July, and Ceratium furca and C. fusus established dense population in the autumn. S. costatum dominated in the rest of period both in mussel and ark shell beds. Relationship between population dynamics of zooplankton and phytoplankton was obscure. There was a phytoplankton bloom while N. scintillans abundance was declined in July. Low standing crops were also observed when zooplankton biomass was comparatively high in spring and winter.

        Investigation on zooplankton dynamics was carried out to know seasonal variation in zooplankton fauna in waters off Yongduck, Korea, Quantitative zooplankton samples were collected seasonally in winter, spring, summer and autumn in ten selected stations in Yongduck waters. A total of 79 taxa of zooplankton occurred in waters off during the study. Copepods showed the prosperity in species number (44 species as 67.1% of total number of zooplankton taxa occurred). Seasonally, 39 taxa occurred in the winter, 33 in spring, 48 in summer and 56 in autumn, respectively. Mean abundance of ten stations was recorded to be the minimum of 966 indiv.m^-3 in th winter and the maximum of 5,428 indiv.m^-3 in summer. Dominant zooplanters were Parcalanus indicus, Oithona similis, Oikopluera dioika, Firitillaria sp. and Noctilluca scintillans. Spatial distribution showed to be the lowest in stn 1. which located hust a front of the Chucksan fisheries harbour in Yongduck. It seems to be affected by the input of contaminants excreted from the harbour. Whereas the nutrients input possibly promotes the increase of primary and secondary production in near-shore waters of the harbour.

        Food competition among four kinds of attached organisms ( Crassostrea sp., Styela clava, Mytilus eculis and Cirripedian sp.) in the oyster bed. Tongyong was investigated in November 2001. During 72 hour investigation, phytoplankton standing crops in control chamber decreased from 16.298.5cells/l (mean value of three chambers) to 8398.8cells/l in first 24 hours. Next 24 hours, it decreased to 5254.7cells/l, and 4891.2 cells/l, gradually. Filtering rate for each organism was 7,659cells/g dry weight/day for Crassostrea sp, 7,770cells/g dry weight/day for Styela clava and 1,558cells/g dry weight/day Cirripedian sp., respectively. No such a clear filtering rate was observed for Mytilus eculis . The conclusion is that short term experiment might be more effective than long term one for the measurement of filtering rate. experimental bag of 04-1㎛ pore size is also needed. Drastic decrease in chlorophyll-a contents and standing crops seems to be due to the artificial concentration. then spring bloom period is recommended to be an experimental period.
