CTOD를 이용한 EH36급강 용접열영향부의 저온파괴인성 연구

It has been recently reported that EH36 class steels with low TIN ratio exhibit excellent HAZ toughness throughout welded joint, and it may be due to the increased fine TIN precipitates, resulting in so-called HAZ free joint. For the evaluation of HAZ fracture toughness of EH36 class steels, two types of steel plates with different carbon content were welded by submerged arc welding with heat input 45kJ/cm and evaluated by a CTOD test. The relationship between microstructure and fracture toughness was investigated using metallographic and fractographic observations for the CTOD specimens. The CTQD test results indicated that two types of steels, compared with those of conventional steels, had excellent fracture toughness, regardless of carbon content. The value of limitation CTOD for two different EH36 class steels were 1.91-2.73mm at -20℃, and 1.38-2.5mm at -40℃ respectively. It may be mainly due to the uniform and fine HAZ microstures, resulted from the effect of fine TIN precipitations on austenite grain coarsening inhibition. Additionally, the CTOD values in HAZ were not greatly affected by the carbon content and notch location.
