        전력소비 변화 요인분석을 통한 국내 제조업의 전력효율성 평가

        에너지 안보 및 국제적인 환경규제에 대응하는 수단으로서 에너지다소비 산업인 제조업의 에너지소비 효율성이 강조되어 왔으나 최근 급격한 전력소비 증가에 대한 우려가 높다. 따라서 제조업의 전력효율성을 지속적으로 모니터링하고 평가하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구는 15년간 제조업의 전력소비 변화에 대해 업종별‧요인별 기여량을 분석하였다. 또한 경제적 전력효율과 기술적 전력효율을 구분하고 효율개선에 의한 전력감축량과 전력효율지표를 도출하였다. 전 업종에서 전력화효과는 전력소비 증가 요인이며 경제적 효율 보다 기술적 효율악화가 더욱 심했다. 특히 전력다소비 업종인 1차금속과 석유화학은 전력효율이 크게 악화되어 제조업 평균 전력효율지표보다 높은 수준을 보였다. 단기적인 요금 지원정책보다 효율개선을 촉진할 수 있는 투자 지원정책을 통해 제조업의 국제 경쟁력을 갖추는 것이 바람직해 보인다. The energy efficiency of manufacturing is one of the keys to response to energy security and international environmental regulations. Drastic increase in electricity consumption is especially concerned with electrification of manufacturing industry. Therefore it is emphasized the electricity efficiency of manufactures to be monitored and evaluated. This paper analyzes the electricity consumption of Korean manufacturing during 2000 to 2014, based on Index Decomposition method. The economic and technical efficiency are considered to establish the electricity savings and the electricity performance index. Through all manufacturing sectors, electrification factor is one of positive effect on electricity consumption, and technical efficiency is always lower than economic efficiency. Primary Metal and Petroleum‧Coal Products Manufacturing are the inefficient sectors on electricity so that they have the lowest electricity performance index among others.

      • Demand Response Program Using the Price Elasticity of Power Demand

        With the growing penetration of distributed generation including from renewable sources, smart grid power system is needed to address the reliability problem. One important feature of smart grid is demand response. In order to design a demand response program, it is indispensable to understand how consumer reacts upon the change of electricity price. In this paper, we construct an econometrics model to estimate the hourly price elasticity of demand. This panel model utilizes the hourly load data obtained from KEPCO for the period from year 2005 to 2009. The hourly price elasticity of demand is found to be statistically significant for all the sample under investigation. The samples used for this analysis is from the past historical data under the price structure of three different time zones for each season. The result of the analysis of this time of use pricing structure would allow the policy maker design an appropriate incentive program. This study is important in the sense that it provides a basic research information for designing future demand response programs.

      • China's Fossil Fuel Market and IGCC

        With current real economic growth of more than 10% per year, the Chinese energy consumption is rapidly increasing. Coal supply consists of the vast majority of China's total energy consumption requirements in 2008. China, the largest energy consumer, is expected to be heavily dependent on coal for future power generation, too (IEA,2009). A growing concern on global warming, on the other hand, drives Chinese government to declare her commitment to the reduction of co₂ emission by 2020. In this paper, China's energy market is examined for the current and future primary energy mix. Coal is found to be the biggest part accounting for 68.7% of total primary energy consumption while coal-fired power accounts for over 80% of the total power generation. The importance of Clean Coal Technology is being discussed based on the findings of the importance of coal in China's economy and its sustainable development. Among the technologies involved, a brief investigation of IGCC(Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) technology with a review on current IGCC projects in China are provided from the perspective of environmental benefits. Studies on regional Chinese power market is also conducted. It is found that the regulated power tariff in electricity system makes the power suppliers suffer from financial loss and changes in the electricity price system is under serious consideration by Chinese government. Even though Chinese power market system causes difficulties of commercialization for IGCC technology, the potential benefits will be high due to China's huge requirements of power generating capacity and its heavy reliance on coal if the electricity price system can be changed smoothly.
