This study aimed to propose solutions for vocational-capability development by analyzing the current status of the career guidance conducted in vocational high schools to provide the youth with appropriate career guidance and adequate educational opportunities. Towards this end, literature search, consultative meetings, and a questionnaire survey were conducted to collect basic data. As for the questionnaire survey, a total of 1,405 students and teachers from the vocational high schools in South Gyeongsang province, and those in charge of recruiting the human resources of companies, were surveyed. As for the statistical processing, thestatistical package of SPSS 11.0 for Windows was applied, and the differences between the subject groups were analyzed using frequency analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, t test, and analysis of variance. Based on the results of the analysis of the career-guidance-related survey data obtained, the following political solutions for vocational-capacity development were proposed: the establishment of renewed positioning for vocational high schools, learner-centered education, field practice reinforcement, regaining the public’s trust in education and customized education, activating the teachers’role in career guidance, creating a career path identity, effecting a transition to character education, reforming the educational curriculum, and devising and implementing measures to satisfy the desire for university advancement.
