As one means to cater a recent change of production paradigm, a ubiquitous technology is implemented for a rapid decision making with an efficient process management of shop floors in manufacturing enterprises. Namely, it is possible in real time to monitor events and check various data occurred in shop floors with the technology. In case of the plastic injection molding shop treated in this paper, however, it is very difficult efficiently to manage a manufacturing process because of a non-standardized work flow and an overdue and inaccurate data-gathering of actual results. Especially, a defect rate and an operating rate become a critical issue with a real time monitoring of work-in-process stock in the molding and painting process. In this paper, we show the case of an efficient process management by means of the MES(Manufacturing Execution System) based on the middleware concept using a ubiquitous technology.

Over the last two decades, quantum dot (QD) solar cells have attracted much attention due to the unique properties of QDs, including band gap tunability, slow hot electron cooling, and multiple exiton generation effect. However, most of the QDs employed in photovoltaic devices contain toxic heavy-metals such as cadmium or lead, which may limit the commercial application. Therefore, recently, heavy-metal-free QDs such as Cu-In-S or Cu-In-Se have been developed for application in solar cells. Here, we review the research trends in heavy-metal-free QD solar cells, mainly focusing on Cu-In-Se QD-sensitized solar cells (QDSC).

Recently there is upsurge of concerns about energy consumption and CO₂ emission because of global warming and rising oil price. Especially, various methods are sought for energy savings through an efficient management of energy consumed in a shop floor of industry. In this paper, as one of the methods, ERM (Energy Resource Management) system is proposed to minimize energy consumption and CO₂ emission by means of an efficient management of energy resources in a shop floor. Based on its concept defined, 5 key technologies required for its development are surveyed with 7 modules composing the system. The ERM system will be implemented in manufacturing process for PCB and forging process for automobile parts to check its usefulness and reliability.

Recently, perovskite solar cells have shown tremendous improvement in power conversion efficiencies. Moreover, they have potential in semitransparent solar cell applications due to their high absorption coefficients. In order to fabricate semitransparent perovskite solar cells with good performance, it is essential to consider the suitability of transparent electrode materials in various aspects, such as transparency, conductivity and fabrication process. In this review, candidate materials for transparent electrodes in perovskite solar cells including carbon-based nanomaterials, conductive polymers and metallic nanostructures are discussed.
