        Poverty is the most important theme of social welfare and a serious social problem in the society since the history of human being. Also social welfare is the core professional field to solve the problem of poverty. Accordingly, Church in local community can support social welfare service directly through the last fort of a social safety net in connection with the problem of poverty, and also carry out social service action on a level complementary and supplementary for the purpose of development, reformation about any structure vulnerability of social welfare system of the government. For these services can approach on a level of social justice as well as missionary dimension for the problem of poverty from church. Therefore I believe that church can has a role to support the alternatives and consider from a missionary standpoint about social problem rooted in the problem of poverty. The purpose of this thesis has examine a role Korean church with method of solution about the problem of poverty in connection with social engagement on church. To bring about this purpose, First of all, I will look around concept, cause, viewpoint and type of poverty. Second, For the problem of poverty, I will observe biblical meaning and point of view in the poor in christianity for adopting in church situation. Third, I will look into Christianity understanding about poverty and how to church accomplished its ministry for the poor. And I will be a valuation on the policy of poverty and the actual condition of poverty in Korean society recently. Then I will suggest two sides on what does Korean church has a role in social engagement of church, which is the last fort of a social safety net. In the side of social action, a role of church has a rule supporter of social action, a crisis manager, an issue initiator. In the side of social service, our church has a provider of service, a financial supply, a program developer, a case manager, a social educator and a manager for volunteer. For those reasons, social engagement of church must perform mutual aid between the side of social structure and the side of social service. Finally, Korean church must proclaim the Gospel of consolation, hope and courage to the poor in crisis, and share our resource with church generously. Now Korean church will come true the justice of God not only through proclaiming the love of God, but also through positive action of social engagement in sharing it with whole body.

      • 평생학습사회 거점공간으로서의 작은도서관

        도서관은 평생교육 또는 평생학습사회에 있어서 중요한 기능과 역할을 수행한다. 특히 작은도서관은 생활공간의 편의성과 접근성으로 또 주민밀착형 생활공간으로 평생학습 프로그램 제공자로서 나름의 역할과 기능을 수행해 왔다. 앞으로 평생학습사회를 실현하려면 거점공간과 창의적인 다양한 프로그램이 무엇보다 요구된다. 그런데 최근 우리 사회에 수적으로 팽창해져 있는 작은도서관을 활용하면 평생학습사회를 실현하는데 유용한 자원으로 활용될 것이다. 작은도서관은 그 성격과 특성상 다양하고 창의적인 프로그램이 생성되고 유통되기에 지역사회의 평생학습 프로그램을 확대 재생산할 수 있는 유용한 거점 공간으로 활용될 수 있기 때문이다. 전국에 산재해 있는 작은도서관 5,000여개가 학습동아리와 독서동아리 모임을 운영하고 활성화되어진다면 작은도서관의 수만큼 다양하고 특색 있는 평생학습 프로그램이 운영될 수 있다. 따라서 작은도서관을 평생학습 사회의 거점공간으로 활용하기 위해 제도적으로 마련되어져야 할 필요성이 요구된다. Libraries play important roles in life-long education or life-long learning communities. In particular, small libraries have been fulfilling their functions as life-long learning program providers as well as serving as community-based living spaces with convenience and good accessibility. For implementation of life-long learning communities, the libraries need to provide a variety of creative programs and be core spaces in their communities. Small libraries, which have greatly increased in number, can be helpful for realizing the life-long learning community as useful resources. Since small libraries have been generating and distributing a variety of creative programs based on their characteristics and features, they can be used as strategic and useful points to expand and reproduce the life-long learning programs in a community. If the approximately 5,000 small libraries distributed throughout Korea could operate and activate learning and reading clubs, as many unique life-long learning programs can be implemented. Accordingly, the institutional system needs to be established to utilize small libraries as the strategic point for the life-long learning community.
