Rear seat armrest is a very important auto part that provides various functions such as passenger"s comfort, side inclining prevention, shock absorption for side crash, etc. Currently, in Korea, since welded steel frame is used largely, problems of production process and over-weight are continuously occurred. In this paper, therefore, we examined necessity of application of high stiffness polymeric(PA6+LGF, PP+LGF) which is light-weight and simplifies production processes, and analyze reinforcement structure by applying load (30㎏.f) at 20㎜ from the end of the side to solve problems of production process and over-weight. also, subjected armrest frame and finished armrest to compression test in same condition. Consequently, We obtained satisfactory results to the specification from the armrest with PA6+LGF material compared to that with steel material.

Aluminum sheet has widely been used in automotive industry to manufacture light-weight vehicles. As the environmental concerns increases, the application of aluminum sheet in automotive body structure is also increases. However, due to the low formability of aluminum, various forming process such as hydroforming, gas blow forming has been introduced to manufacture the body panel part. Although such forming processes can produce the part with fracture-free, the long cycle time has been the limitation for mass production. Therefore, the aluminum sheet has only been used to luxury sedans. In this research, the aluminum center floor tunnel reinforcement has been manufactured by warm press forming which the cycle time is short. To ensure the strength of the part, structural analysis has been done. Also, the forming simulation has been carried out to reduce the try and error for warm forming process.
