The digital image correlation (DIC) method is a whole-field measurement technique that acquires surface displacements and strains from images information which characterized a random speckle as intensity grey levels. It gives deformation image information of a specimen by using two digital images obtained before and after the deformation. This method allows automatic, non-contact and whole-field measurements to be carried out by a simple experimen. In this study, to show the usefulness of DIC method, we performed a tensile test and obtained the image information of surface and analyzed by DIC. The results shows that the DIC is an efficient and reliable tool for full - field monitoring displacement and strain and detailed damage characterization of material.
