A conceptual design study of the Korean fusion demonstration reactor (K-DEMO) has been carried out since 2012 as following the Korean fusion development roadmap based on the Fusion Energy Development Promotion Law (FEDPL) legislated in 2007. The present in-vessel components of the K-DEMO have been studied for the 2,200 MW of fusion power. Almost half of the plasma power should be cooled down in the divertor. Especially, 10 MW/m² of the peak heat flux locally concentrates on the narrow section of the divertor target. To faithfully cool down the heat load, the selection of materials that the divertor is important as well as the decision of design parameters. Especially, the choice and design of the heat sink material in the divertor target are quite significant because the heat sink directly interfaced with the coolant. Reduced activation ferritic martensitic (RAFM) steel and CuCrZr have been considered the most promising candidates as the heat sink material. The preliminary designs of the high heat flux (HHF) units operating within materials’ own allowable temperature were derived by accomplishing thermohydraulic analyses for RAFM and CuCrZr. Based on the designs of HHF units with a support structure.

To find out meaningful quantitive and qualatative properties of materials, we tend to look into an increasingly the large scale problems in molecular dynamics (MD) simulation by using parallel computing algorithm. We examine the speed-up rate according to load balancing, and the performance evaluation of parallel MD simulation schemes such as OpenMP, shared data method, force decomposition method, the complete distribution method based on domain decomposition. The simulation is performed for a nano-indentation of an Al thin film with EAM potential. The result shows that the complete distribution method based on domain decomposition is more efficient than other methods in aspect to speed-up and memory saving.

Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis is defined as the diffuse infiltration of the leptomeninges by malignant cells metastasized from systemic cancer. We report a case of leptomeningeal carcinomatosis presenting bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and dizziness. A 51-year-old woman who was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis was referred to our department because of progressive hearing loss and dizziness. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an abnormal enhancement of the vestibulocochlear nerves within the internal auditory canals bilaterally. The patient received chemotherapy concurrently with an intrathecal methotrexate injection. Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis must be considered in the differential diagnosis of cancer patients with bilateral progressive sensorineural hearing loss.
DESING PROGRAM FOR THE KINEMATIC AND DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BUS DOOR MECHANISM

The bus is regarded as one of the most frequently used public transportation systems, the research anddevelopment on driving stability, safety, and convenience for drivers and passengers has tremendously increased in recentdays. This paper investigated the design of the bus door mechanism composed of an actuator (or motor) and linkages. Thebus door mechanism is divided into many types according to the coupling of the linkages and the driving system. Themathematical models of all types of dor mechanism have been constructed for computer simulation. To design the busdor mechanism, we developed a simulation program, which automates the kinematic and dynamic analysis according tothe input parameters of each linkage and the driving system. Using this program, we investigated the design parametersthat affect the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the bus door mechanism under various simulation conditions. Inaddition, simple examples are examined to validate the developed program.

The main system function of the FVCWS (Forward Vehicle Collision Warning System) is to warn the driver when the following vehicle encounters the situation when a leading vehicle in the following vehicle's trajectory becomes a potential hazard. Much research on the warning algorithms for the FVCWS has been carried out. However, human factors to design the warning algorithms for the FVCWS must be considered to decide the suitable warning critical distance. In this study, the driver's perception response experiment is carried out on the VR (Virtual Reality) based vehicle simulator. The experimental results against driver's perception response time and the maximum vehicle deceleration corresponding to leading vehicle's sudden braking are reflected to the forward vehicle collision warning algorithm which decides the warning critical distance. It can be useful in the design of the FVCWS with due regard to human factors such as driver's behavior and driving characteristics on various driving conditions.
