        수도의 염해와 대책

        Salt injury in rice is caused mainly by the salinity in soil and in the irrigated water, and occasionaly by salinity delivered through typhoon from the sea. The salt concentration of rice plants increased with higher salinity in the soil of the rice growing. The climatic conditions, high temperature and solar radiation and dry conditions promote the salt absorption of rice plant in saline soil. The higher salt accumulation in the rice plant generally reduces the root activity and inhibits the absorption of minerals of rice plant, resulting the reduction of photosynthesis. The salt damages of rice plant, however, are different from different growth stage of rice plants as follows: 1. Germination of rice seed was slightly delayed up to 1.0% of salt concentration and remarkably at 1. 5%, but none of rice seeds were germinated at 2.5%. This may be due to the delayed water uptake of rice seeds and the inhibition of enzyme activity, 2. It was enable to establish rice seedlings at seed bed by 0.2% of salt concentration with some reduction of leaf elongation. The increasing of 0.3% salt concentration caused to the seedling death with varietal differences, but most of seedlings were death at 0.4% with no varietal differences. 3. Seedlings grown at the nursery over 0.1% salt, gradually reduced in rooting activity after transplanting according to increasing the salt concentration from 0.1% up to 0.3% of paddy field. However, the seedlings grown in normal seed bed showed no difference in rooting between varieties up to 0.1% but significantly different at 0.3% between varieties, but greatly reduced at 0.5% and died at last in paddy after transplanting. 4. At panicle initiation stage, rice plant delayed in heading by salt damage, at meiotic stage reduced in grains and its filling rate due to inhibition of glume and pollen developing, and salt damage at heading stage and till 3 weeks after heading caused to reduction of fertilization and ripening rate. In viewpoint of agricultural policy the overcoming strategy for salt injury is to secure sufficient water source. Irrigation and drainage systems as well as underground drainage is necessary to desalinize more effectively. This must be the most effective and positive way except cost. By cultural practice, growing the salt tolerant variety with high population could increase yield. The intermittent irrigation and fresh water flooding especially at transplanting and from panicle initiation to heading stage, the most sensitive to salt injury, is important to reduce the salt content in saline soil. During the off-cropping season, plough and rotavation with flooding followed by drainage, or submersion and drainage with groove could improve the desalinization. Increase of nitrogen fertilizer with more split application, and soil improvement by lime, organic matter and forign soil addition, could increase the rice yield. Shift of trans-planting is one of the way to escape from the salt injury.

        들깨 오메가 지방산의 기능과 함량변이 및 이용

        The n-3 family fatty acids containing α -linolenic acid(18:3, ALA) have been known as physiological activation materials such as inhibitory effects on the incidence of hyper-tension, coronary heart disease and cancers as well as the control of senilc dementia. Although a lot of ALA(about 63~% ) are contained in perilla oil, it has not been commercialized yet because the purification technique of the ALA has not been well established. The procedure of purification of ALA from perilla oil was saponified with 1 N-KOH /ethanol and then saturated and low level unsaturated fatty acids were removed by low-temperature crystallization method. The concentrated unsaturated fatty acids (containing about 75~% ALA) went down through the silver nitrate-impregnated silica column chromatography for separation of high purity of ALA. The results obtained we Fraction B, C and D contained ALA more than 85.5~% (recovery, >88.9~%,~;95.4~% (recovery, >54.4~% ) and 99.9~% (recovery, >31.5~% ) in purity, respectively. Seed oil content of the tested varieties were ranged from 34.8 to 54.1~% with 45.3~% of varietal means. The major omega fatty acids contained in the oil were oleic acid(n-9) 15.2~% , linoleic acid(n-6) 13.9~% and linolenic acid(n-3) 63.1~% in the mean value. Varietal variation of n-9, 6 and 3 fatty acids ranged of 9.5~~21.4~%,~;9.1~~20.4~% and 50.6~~70.5~% respectively. Unsaturated fatty acid were averaged 92.2~% of seed oil in fatty acid composition. The ratios of n-6 to n-3 ranged of 0.13~~0.34~% (0.22~% in mean value). The highest n-3 fatty acid variety was Yecheonjong being 70.5~% . The lowest variety in ratios of n-6 to n-3 was Goseongjong being 0.13~% . Oil content showed positive correlation with stearic acid and linolenic acid, while the negative correlation with oil content and linoleic acid. On the other hand, A significant negative correlation were showed between linolnic acid and the ratios n-6/n-3 fatty acid, saturated fatty acid. Saturated fatty acid was highly correlated with unsaturated fatty acid negatively being r= -0.723** .

        참당귀묘의 크기 및 저온처리가 생육과 추대에 미치는 영향

        참당귀 묘크기와 저온처리가 추대에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 수행한 시험결과를 요약하며 다음과 같다. 1. 저온처리 기간에 따른 추대율은 30일, 60일과 90일 처리에서는 각각 69.4%, 69.3%과 75.2%로 처리기간이 길어짐에 따라 추대율이 높았으며, 무처리에서는 29.6%로 낮았다. 2. 묘크기별 저온처리에 따른 추대율은 소묘일수록 낮고, 대묘일수록 높아지는 경향이었다. 정식후 추대까지의 기간은 저온처리 기간이 길수록, 대묘일수록 추대가 빨라지는 경향이었다. 3. 추대시 생육은 저온처리 기간이 길어지고 대묘일수록 초장이 짧고 추대엽위가 낮으며 진전엽수가 적어지는 경향이었다. 추대율은 추대시 생육과는 부의 상관을 보이고, 후기생육과는 정의 상관을 보였다. This study was carried out to understand the effect of low temperature treatment and seedling size on growth and bolting in Angeljca gjgas. Bolting rate increased as period of low temperature increased and bolting rate of control was lower than that of low temperature treatment. In low temperature treatment with seedling size, the smaller seedling size, the higher bolting rate. Period from transplanting to bolting was reduced with low temperature treatment extended and large seedling. The plant height, position of bolting leaf and number of developing leaf were decreased with low temperature treatment extended and large seedling, respectively, There was a highly significant negative correlation between bolting rate and number of developed leaves before bolting and number of developed leaves in growth to first bolting but positive correlation in late growth, respectively.

        참깨 항산화물질의 기능과 함량 및 이용 전망

        Antioxidants of sesame have been reported to cure and prevent various diseases by means of diverse physiological activities, prevention of acidification in organisms, prevention of acidification and decay of lipids, cholesterol depression, preventive effects on chemical breast cancer, skin beauty and senescence inhibition, and so on. Recognizing their significance to health and disease prevention, researchers in Japan and America have given so much importance to study antioxidants in the last decade. In addition, they are actively pursuing studies on production, processing for food use and development of new varieties that have high antioxidant content. Recently, researchers in Korea have shown the same interest and have conducted similar studies, however, the importance of the following basic issues must be recognized to guide in future activites : First, improvement of sesame quality must be done to raise the contents of not only the fat and fatty acid but also sesamin, sesamolin and sesaminol glucoside. For the use of these components it is necessary to study the gentic pattern and individual selections developed from minimum sample size and fast lipid analysis techniques. Second, sesaminol of sesame has a remarkable function in preventing acidification and so sesame can be utilized as a food that prevents or delays aging caused by automatic acidification of fat. Therefore, for maximum medicinal benefit from sesame oil there is a need to develop food materials having new medicinal functions. Third, the sesamin and sesamolin content of sesame germplasms collected in Korea showed lower ranges of 0.04~~0.68 percent and 0.08~~0.68 percent respectively, while Japanese germ-plasm showed 1.9 percent maximum content of seasmin. Thus, germplasm collection and analysis of worldwide genetic resources are urgently needed.
