We considered the upbringing of the power of mathematical thinking through the mathematical learning. In particular, the power of mathematical thinking works individually or in relation to each others, depending on the view point of consideration. Thefeore, in this paper, we classified the power of mathematical thinking into several cases and considered the meaning, the value and upbringing of the power of mathematical thinking through the teaching process.

In this paper, we propose a new pattern of curriculum of Mathematics for students in the college of Edcation and in the graduate school of Education of which properties are different from those of other colleges. The purpose of this curriculum is for students to obtain extensively the knowledge of Mathematics and didactics of Mathematics and to be able to teach Mathematics efficiently and creatively.

It is often said that the characteristics of a mathematics teacher must be enhanced as a professional man like a medical man or a pharmacist by intensifying his qualifications. At present, the training course is of a diverse nature according to the different colleges(e.g. college of education, college of liberal arts and sciences), and even according to the national or private college of education. Hence, there is no fixed standard for qualification control for a mathematics teacher. In this article, a tentative plan is made by analyzing and adapting the mathematics curriculum of Japan's for the purpose of producing a better mathematics teacher, claiming good quality plus a good knowledge of a teacher,
中学校 義務敎育 実施를 前提로 한 統合的인 数学敎育課程의 硏究

This study aims at laying the foundation of the curriculum of mathematics for training teachers of both primary and secondary schools in order to meet either the reorganization of teachers college or the integration of it with college of education when compulsory education extends up to secondary school in the near future. The following are what the writer has attempted at for the foundation of the reasonable curriculum of mathematics. 1. A comparison is made between mathematics curriculum of teachers college and college of education in Korea and that in Japan where a certain similarity is found in educational system to Korea. 2. A systematic conception as to mathematics is formulated through an analysis of the textbooks of arithmetic at primary school and mathematics at secondary school. 3. A tentative plan is made for synthetic curriculum of mathematics for both primary and secondary schools on the premise of a full-time teaching system of arithmetic in primary school. 4. Some suggestions together with several anticipated points are given for the effective operation of mathematics curriculum.

Most of the mathematics teachers want to have easy access to the new trend in teaching mathematics and desire to have an opportunity of discussing the promblems confronted with in class by exchanging their empirical knowledge with each other. Viewed in this light, it is desired to improve the present system of teachers in-service training, by which the teachers' qualification and the teaching methodolgy will be elevated. Analysing the teachers' opinions by the method of questionaire and studying the reference data home and abroad, several suggestìons are made for the improvement of mathematics teachers in -service training.

It is the most important subject matter to develop mathematical teaching materials in order to improve the quality of math education and to modernize math education in the middle school, however, we have found that there are few research concerning this matter. In this paper, we first analized the math text books for middle school students including the educational object of mathematics, and we characterized the definitions and kinds of mathematical teaching materials in middle school. With this preliminary investigation, we have established a developmental proposal of mathematical teaching materials in connection with the contents of textbook showing the kind of material and how to make the materials in detail. The proposal contains the educational object for each unit, the name of materials, contents of teaching subject according to the grade of students, and we made a model of teaching plan with the mathematical teaching materials. Being our developmental proposal of mathematical teaching materials used in teaching math in the middle school, we expect some contribution for the improvement of quality in math education. We hope that this research brings the growing of students' interest learning mathematics and the ability of observing, understanding, and thinking in the middle school.
