        Bacterial Fruit Rot of Apricot Caused by Burkholderia cepacia in China

        An unreported disease of apricot was observed in orchards in Zhejiang province, China. Symptoms started as water soaked lesions on the fruit surface. Later, water-soaked areas developed and spread to the entire fruit, resulting in soft rot of the whole fruit. The causal organism isolated from symptomatic fruits was identified as Burkholderia cepacia based on its biochemical and physiological characteristics and confirmed by the cellular fatty acid composition and Biolog data as well as 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. The bacterial isolates caused similar symptoms when inoculated onto fruits of apricot. In addition, European plum, Japanese plum, nectarine and kiwifruit were susceptible to the B. cepacia pathogen. However, the B. cepacia pathogen failed to cause any visible symptoms when it was inoculated onto 16 other fruits. This is the first report of a bacterial disease of apricot caused by B. cepacia in China.

      • Network Traffic Classification using Genetic Algorithms based on Support Vector Machine

        In recent years,machine learning method has been applied to the extensive research on traffic classification. In these methods, SVM (Support vector machine) is a supervised learning which can improve generalization ability of learning machine effectively. However, the penalty parameter C and kernel function parameter  are generally given by test experience during training of SVM. How to determine the optimal parameters of SVM is a problem to be solved. We proposed a method to deriving the optimal parameters of SVM based on GA (Genetic algorithm).This method does not need to traverse all the parameter points. The method extracts a certain number population from random solutions, and ultimately produces SVM optimal parameters according to the specific rules of operation. Through the method, we derived the optimal parameters combination C and  of SVM. The accuracy of network traffic classification is improved greatly.

        High-revenue Online Provisioning for Virtual Clusters in Multi-tenant Cloud Data Center Network

        The rapid development of cloud computing and high requirements of operators requires strong support from the underlying Data Center Networks. Therefore, the effectiveness of using resources in the data center networks becomes a point of concern for operators and material for research. In this paper, we discuss the online virtual-cluster provision problem for multiple tenants with an aim to decide when and where the virtual cluster should be placed in a data center network. Our objective is maximizing the total revenue for the data center networks under the constraints. In order to solve this problem, this paper divides it into two parts: online multi-tenancy scheduling and virtual cluster placement. The first part aims to determine the scheduling orders for the multiple tenants, and the second part aims to determine the locations of virtual machines. We first approach the problem by using the variational inequality model and discuss the existence of the optimal solution. After that, we prove that provisioning virtual clusters for a multi-tenant data center network that maximizes revenue is NP-hard. Due to the complexity of this problem, an efficient heuristic algorithm OMS (Online Multi-tenancy Scheduling) is proposed to solve the online multi-tenancy scheduling problem. We further explore the virtual cluster placement problem based on the OMS and propose a novel algorithm during the virtual machine placement. We evaluate our algorithms through a series of simulations, and the simulations results demonstrate that OMS can significantly increase the efficiency and total revenue for the data centers.

        Effect of Thread Count on the Shear Mechanical Properties and Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Shape Memory Polymer Reinforced by Single-Ply Weave Fabric

        Shape memory epoxy polymer reinforced by single-ply weave fabric (SMEP-W) possesses high specific stiffness, good foldability, and satisfactory shape memory capability. These advantages make them promising materials for deployable space structures and increasingly attract research interests. Understanding the influence of weave structures on static and dynamic mechanical properties is crucial to structural design and mechanical response prediction. In this paper, a recently developed SMEP-W was prepared. The static shear experiments were conducted through modified shear test fixtures, and the stress field under static shear load was simulated through a multi-scale numerical modelling method. The dynamic mechanical analysis was carried out to evaluate the shape memory capability. SMEP-W shows nonlinear mechanical behavior under in-plane shear load, especially for the one with less thread count. The increase in the number of threads enhances the constraints between warp yarns and weft yarns, leading to an increase in shear modulus and reducing the scattering of static mechanical properties. The stress distribution on the yarns has the characteristic of center symmetry. High-stress regions appear on the overlapping surface of the crossover regions. Compared with shape memory epoxy polymer (SMEP), the glass transition temperature and damping coefficient of SMEP-W are significantly reduced, and the stiffness is remarkably enhanced. The difference in thread count between warp direction and weft direction does not notably affect the glass transition temperature and tan δ, but has a remarkable influence on the storage modulus. The present work could provide basic observation for understanding the influence of thread count on the shear mechanical properties and dynamic mechanical properties of SMEP-W.
