Active Tactual Motion of Fingertips in FUUAI Evaluation Of Textile Fabrics

Human uses sight, tactile sense to evaluate Total Hand Value(FUUAI) of textile fabrics. Tactile sense is important factor which decided the Total Hand Value of a textile fabric. When human feels the FUUAI, physical and physiological phenomena are occurred in finger. We first found out physical variable that is happened in fingertip when human is feeling the FUUAI. Such physical variable means characteristic of action tactual motion of finger such as moving range, tactile time, moved distance, speed of finger and applied force by finger. We study the relationship between action tactual motion and the ability in which the human distinguishes the textile fabric. As a result, we could know the characteristics of the tactual motion of fingertip to get high distinguishable ability. The characteristics were different in men and women respectively. In the case of man, touched time and moving range influenced to distinguish, and moving range, and the moving speed of finger influenced, in woman``s case.

Human uses the sight and the tactilesensations to evaluate the hand of textile fabrics. Especially the tactile sensation is the important factor to decide the hand of a textile fabric. When human evaluates the hand, the physical and physiological phenomena are occurred by the finger motion(the applied force, the speed of finger movement, the touching time, the contact area and the distance of finger movement)and they use a special finger motion according to the purpose of their evaluation. Such sensory evaluation includes resilience, roughness, flexibility and softness. We observed and compared the finger motions of both high sensitive users and low sensitive users. We used a glove type measurement system with pressure sensors and accelerator sensor to investigate the characteristics of finger motion while evaluating a hand of fabric. The sensors provided data on the applied force and direction of finger motion as its patterns. This allowed us to identify and analyze the differences between high sensitive users and low sensitive users. The results show that the finger motion varied according to the user``s ability to discriminate, with high sensitive user``s finger motion being better suited to sensory evaluation.

The purpose of our study is to clarify about the influence that the visual information gives to the brain activities when pressure exerted the abdomen by waist belts. The visual information means that the some different visual information is inputted it, and the brain activity is evaluated by Electroencephalogram(EEG) measurements. At the same time, we carried out the sensory tests and verified about the relations between the psychological stress and the brain activities. There was a difference in change in the power of the α wave with the eyes opened between man and woman. From the result of the sensory test, in the case of under the condition in the darkness with the eyes opened, there was no change in the a wave with before the pressure and after the pressure. In the other cases, α wave changed in the same way with before the pressure and after the pressure. In the case of the visible and the invisible in pressure place, α wave changed in the same way with before the pressure and after the pressure, but there was a difference in value. From the above, it isn``t recognized that the visual information is influencing a pressure sense but some influences are given to it to the brain activities.

<P><B>ABSTRACT</B></P> <P>Most of the experimental investigations conducted on unsaturated soil have been performed under a constant air pressure. Changes in air pressure during deformation are in some cases important in practice. For example, in order to explain the stability problems of embankments during earthquakes and seepage flow, and grounds containing gas associated with the dissociation of methane hydrates, it is necessary to consider the interaction between the soil and the pore fluids. In the present study, we carried out fully undrained tests as well as drained tests, namely, constant water and constant air shearing tests. We performed the fully undrained tests using an air-controlled valve to measure the pore air pressure. For the stress variables of the unsaturated soil, skeleton stress values were used to describe the experimental results. From triaxial compression tests on silty soil, we found that the initial suction, the confining pressure, and the strain rate of unsaturated soil strongly influence the stress-strain behavior of unsaturated silt.</P>
