This paper deals with new soft-switched vollagc-fed full-bridge type series resonant high-frequency inverter with lossless inductor or capacitor snubbers incorporated into one of the bridge legs. These inverters operate under the best condition of load-adaptive frequency modulated mode phase-shifted PWM hybrid control strategy. From the experimental results of the inverter .system using lossless inductor snubbers and IGBTs, this inverter circuit topology is cost-effective for reducing switching losses and its operating frequency can increase up to 100kHz for the latest IGBTs.

In order to conduct impact experiments at the hypervelocity more 10 ㎞/s, a four-stage light gas gun is developed. The four-stage light gas gun could obtain higher launching velocity than the conventional guns by launching a small-sized two-stage light gas gun by a large-sized two-stage light gas gun. For the design of the four-stage light gas gun, design optimization is necessary. especially for the lengths of the pump tube and launch tube of the small-sized two-stage light gas gun. In this study. we estimate the performance of the four-stage light gas gun experimentally and numerically.

For mechanical drive steam turbines, the investigation results of corrosion fatigue phenomena in the transient zone are introduced, including basic phenomena on expansion line and actual design and damage experience. These results were analyzed from the standpoint of stress intensity during the start of cracking. In order to resolve such problems, preventive coating and blade design methods against fouling and corrosive environments are developed. Detailed evaluation test results are given for coating performance using a unique test procedure simulating fouling phenomena and washing conditions. Finally, the results of the successful modification of internals and on-line washing results on site are introduced.
Impact of Surgery on Oligometastatic Pancreatic Cancer: Current Status and Future Perspectives

Pancreatic cancer treatment has advanced. In particular, effective chemotherapy regimendevelopment has fundamentally altered the therapeutic concept and strategy for pancreaticcancer treatment. Consequently, the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer has graduallyimproved. Conversion surgery for locally advanced pancreatic cancer may offer long-term survival or even a full recovery in some individuals. In contrast, metastatic pancreatic cancer haslong been considered a surgical contraindication because aggressive surgical resection of themetastatic lesions does not prolong patient survival. Unexpectedly positive benefits of anticancer therapy in recent clinical experience were observed even with metastatic pancreatic cancer. To date, little evidence presented the success of surgical resection for metastatic pancreatic cancer treatment in such rare cases. However, hope and concern are growing that surgical intervention, even in patients with metastatic cancer, may result in favorable outcomes. Several studiessuggested different surgical intervention effects depending on metastasis sites and patterns. Thus, this review summarizes the current status of surgery in the multidisciplinary treatment ofoligometastatic pancreatic cancer and discusses future perspectives.

This paper is mainly concerned with the state-of-the art practical development of a constant HF phase-shifted PWM bridge type resonant DC-DC suitable converter for X-ray high-power generator with a DSP-based controller.<br/> This converter effectively makes the best of the inherent lumped parasitic resonant LC circuit components incorporated into the high-voltage HF transformer and input-side equivalent parasitic capacitance of the high-voltage feeding cable in place of DC output smoothing filter. This parallel resonant converter with X-ray tube load is analyzed through the computer-aided simulation. Its voltage regulation characteristics in steady-state and the dynamic performances are illustrated with a generic method and discussed along with the operating characteristics of series and parallel resonant-tank converter topology.<br/> The trially-produced set-up using new power semiconductor devices/modules for X-ray power generator is investigated including new DSP-based voltage control technology which introduce the modern control theory from an experimental and a practical point of view.
