Predicting the Unemployment Rate Using Social Media Analysis

We demonstrate how social media content can be used to predict the unemployment rate, a real-world indicator. We present a novel method for predicting the unemployment rate using social media analysis based on natural language processing and statistical modeling. The system collects social media contents including news articles, blogs, and tweets written in Korean, and then extracts data for modeling using part-of-speech tagging and sentiment analysis techniques. The autoregressive integrated moving average with exogenous variables (ARIMAX) and autoregressive with exogenous variables (ARX) models for unemployment rate prediction are fit using the analyzed data. The proposed method quantifies the social moods expressed in social media contents, whereas the existing methods simply present social tendencies. Our model derived a 27.9% improvement in error reduction compared to a Google Index-based model in the mean absolute percentage error metric.

국가 과학기술 경쟁력 재고를 위하여 R&D 기관에서 생성되는 연구데이터를 종합적으로 관리하고 서비스하는 데이터 관리/서비스 시스템의 개발의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 VKH(Visible Korean Human) 데이터를 3차원으로 시각화 서비스하는 플랫폼을 제안하고 구현한다. VKH 데이터는 사망과 동시에 급속 냉동한 인간의 신체를 0.2mm 간격으로 절단하며 촬영한 방대한 양의 실사 이미지 데이터베이스이며, 전통적인 생물학, 의학 분야의 연구뿐만 아니라, 현실감 있는 3D 이미지 구축을 위한 기반 데이터로 이용되고 있다. VKH 데이터 기반의 3D 데이터 시각화 플랫폼은 사용자 접근 편의성을 위하여 웹을 기반으로 구현되고, 트리 형식의 인체 구조 온통로지와 연동하여 해당하는 인체 구성 요소를 체계적으로 관찰하는 기능, 사용자의 원하는 인체 구성 요소들만을 3D 화면에서 조합하고 관찰하는 기능, 위키피디아 백과사전을 참조하는 기능을 포함한다. 현재 인체의 머리 부분 3D 데이터를 대상으로 플랫폼이 구축되고 있으며, 향후 전체 인체를 대상으로 서비스할 예정이다.

본 논문에서는 의존 구조 매칭과 약한 지도식 학습 방법을 적용하여 텍스트에서 IS-A 관계를 자동으로 추출하고 순위화하는 방법을 제안한다. 텍스트에서 잠재적인 IS-A 관계를 표현하는 [관계 표현, 하위어, 상위어]의 삼진관계 리스트를 추출하고, 관계 표현과 IS-A 관계 인스턴스, IS-A 관계 후보, 사이의 상호 관련성을 이용하여 각각의 점수를 반복적으로 정제한다. 제안한 방법의 대표적인 특징은 다음과 같다. 1) 의존 구조에 기반한 패턴매칭 방법을 적용하여 정규 표현에 기반한 방법보다 다양한 형태의 삼진관계를 추출할 수 있고, 2) 도메인 코퍼스에서 통계적으로 추출한 어휘 사이의 관련성 정보를 이용하여 도메인에 적합한 IS-A 관계 인스턴스의 순위를 높일 수 있으며, 3) 관계 표현과 관계 인스턴스의 점수를 상호 관련성에 기반한 방법으로 반복적으로 점수화하여 IS-A 관계 인스턴스 사이의 변별력을 높일 수 있다. 실험에서 순위화된 관계 인스턴스는 전문가의 판단과 66%이상 일치함을 보였고, 의존 구조를 이용한 유연한 패턴 매칭 방법은 정규표현을 이용한 방법보다 43.6%의 추가적인 삼진관계를 추출하였다.

4차 산업혁명이 가속화되고 인공지능과 로봇 기술이 발전하면서 인간의 언어능력을 대체할 수 있는 자연언어처리에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 자연언어처리의 발전과정, 주요 기술 그리고 자연언어 대화 인터페이스, 기계번역, 질의응답시스템 등을 포함하는 다양한 활용 분야를 설명한다. 더 나아가 자연언어처리 기술을 기반으로 다문화가정의 언어 소통 문제를 해결하기 위한 방안을 제안한다. 다문화가정 구성원은 언어 장벽 때문에 자녀 교육 등 여러 일상생활에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이와 같은 어려움을 해결하기 위해서 실제 생활에 필요한 한국어 용어들의 의미를 그 다문화가정 구성원의 모국어로 간편하고 신속하게 제공받을 수 있는 스마트 서비스가 필요하다. 그러나 현재의 자동번역 기술은 영어 · 일본어 · 중국어 등의 중요 언어를 중심으로 개발되고 있으며, 다문화가정 구성원이 공공기관과 소통하거나 자녀를 교육할 때 필요한 용어들을 번역하기에는 한계가 있다. 기초 수준의 한국어를 읽고 이해할 수 있는 다문화가정 구성원을 지원하기 위한 실시간 다국어 어휘대역서비스 앱 한통이(HanTongE)를 개발하여 무료로 배포하고 있다. 한통이는 한국어 문장에서 어휘들의 의미를 자동으로 분석한 후 10개 언어의 대역어를 제시해 외국인들이 한국어 문장을 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 지원한다. 외국인들을 대상으로 한통이의 성능과 사용성을 평가했고 장단점 분석 및 향후 연구 방향에서 의미 있는 결과를 얻었다. 이 연구는 한국어 어휘 의미 분석 연구, 언어교육 연구, 다국어 번역지식 구축 연구, 다문화정책 연구 등을 포함하는 학제 간 융합연구 방식으로 수행되었다. As the fourth industrial revolution accelerates along with artificial intelligence and robot technology development, people became more and more interested in natural language processing that can replace human language command abilities. In this study, we describe the brief history of natural language processing, the underlying technology, and various applications including natural language dialog interface, machine translation, and question answering system. Furthermore, this study proposes ‘HanTongE’, an automatic word translation service that was designed to help those who have very basic Korean abilities, such as members of multicultural families. Members of multicultural families face difficulties in educating their children and going about their daily lives due to language barriers. However, current automatic translation technology is focused on services for English, Chinese, Japanese, and other major languages. Also, there are limitations on the services’ ability to translate words necessary for specific purposes such as children’s education and government services. ‘HanTongE’ automatically analyzes the meaning of each word in a Korean sentence and then provides multilingual replacement words to help the user understand Korean sentences easily. This study is being conducted in a multidisciplinary approach that comprises researches in various areas such as natural language processing, language education, and multicultural policy.

구성정보와 문맥정보를 이용한 전문용어의 전문성 측정 방법

어떤 용어가 전문적인 개념을 많이 내포하고 있을 때 전문성이 높다고 말한다. 본 논문에서는 용어의 내부 구성정보와 외부 문맥정보를 이용하여 정보이론에 기반한 방법으로 전문용어가 내포하는 전문성을 정량적으로 계산하는 방법을 제안한다. 용어의 전문성은 용어간 상하위어 관계 설정에서 중요한 필요조건으로 사용될 수 있다. 제안한 방법은 전문용어의 내부 구성정보를 이용하는 방법, 문맥정보를 이용하는 방법 그리고 두 정보를 모두 이용하는 방법으로 나눈다. 구성정보를 이용하는 방법에서는 전문용어를 구성하는 단어의 빈도수, 가중치, 바이그램, 내부 수식구조 등을 이용하고, 문맥정보를 이용하는 방법에서는 전문용어를 수식하는 단어들의 분포를 이용한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법은 분야에 독립적으로 적용될 수 있고, 전문용어 생성 절차에 대한 특징을 잘 반영할 수 있는 장점이 있다. MeSH 트리에 포함된 질병이름의 전문성 값을 계산한 뒤 상위어의 전문성 값과 비교한 결과 82.0%의 정확률을 보였다. A term with more domain specific information has higher level of term specificity. We propose new specificity calculation methods of terms based on information theoretic measures using compositional and contextual information. Specificity of terms is a kind of necessary conditions in term hierarchy construction task. The methods use based on compositional and contextual information of terms. The compositional information includes frequency, tf·idf, bigram and internal structure of the terms. The contextual information of a term includes the probabilistic distribution of modifiers of terms. The proposed methods can be applied to other domains without extra procedures. Experiments showed very promising result with the precision of 82.0% when applied to the terms in MeSH thesaurus.
