본 논문은 비정질 인둠ᅳ갈f ᅳ아연-산화물 박막트랜지스터 (a-IGZO TFT)를 이용하여 능동형 유기발광다이오드 (AMOLED)용 문턱전압(Vth )을 보상하는 화소 회로를 제안하였다. 산화물 TFT는 n-채널 TFT로써, 우리는 n-채널 TFT 특성으로 회로를 최적화하였다. 제안된 화소 회로는 회로 시뮬레이션 뿐만 아니라 회로 분석을 이용하여 확인되었다. 제안된 화소 회로는 AMOLED에서 구동 TFT의 문턱전압 변화를 보상할 수 있다. 제안된 화소 회로를 이용함으로써, 문턱전압 보상은 달성되었다. rhis paper proposes a tnresnold voltage compensation pixel circuit for active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AM OLED) using amorphous indium-gaUiimi-zinc-oxide thin-film transistors (a-IGZO TFTs), Oxide TFT is an n-channel TFT; therefore, we optimized the circuit for the n-channel TFT characteristics. The proposed pixel circuit was verified using circuit analysis as well as circuit simulations. The proposed circuit could compensate for the threshold voltage variations o f drive TFT in AM OLED. Using the proposed pixel circuit, threshold voltage compensation was achieved.

We developed the educational purpose mobile application, named "Wild Flowers of Bukhansan National Park (version 1.0)", aiming for easy identification of wild flowers for students and visitors in the park. When visitors find a flower or part of plant in the park, visitors can search for its name utilizing the pictures and characters provided in their own smartphone mobile devices or tablet PCs. The application provides pictures of wild flowers in the park and character-based searching system based on 12 diagnostic features (e.g., growth form, leaf arrangement, flower symmetry, petal color, petal number, sepal number, etc). We adopted the complete floristic survey of Chung and Lee (1962) and added species that we confirmed their distribution in the park during the development of this application. In summary, number of vascular plants in this park was estimated to be 428 taxa including 100 families, 280 genera, 327 species, 1 subspecies, 50 varieties, and 5 formas. We provided a total of 588 pictures representing 358 taxa and each taxon includes multiple pictures in many cases. Included identification quizzes can be an efficient educational tool as well as fun activity for students and visitors who are learning plant species in Korea. Our next step will include GPS function in the application for indicating visitor's location and for providing previously reported sites of the species that we interested in the map of the park. The future application which includes GPS function will be a valuable tool for the monitoring of rare plants, plant researches related to the climate changes, etc. We currently provide Korean iPhone version only, and English version and both of android versions will be serviced soon.

<P>Advanced melanoma is the most virulent form of cancer and has a poor prognosis. In a previous study, myriocin, an inhibitor of serine palmitoyltransferase, was found to suppress melanoma cell proliferation by cell cycle arrest at the G 2/M phase through decreased sphingolipid levels and increased p53 and p21 (waf1/cip1) expression. ( 1) In the present study, myriocin (1 mg/kg, every other day for 3 weeks) was administered intradermally or intraperitoneally to melanoma mice. Tumor formation was significantly inhibited by intradermal and intraperitoneal administration of myriocin. The expression of Cdc25C, Cdc2 and cyclin B1 was decreased in tumor tissues from myriocin-treated mice, while the expression of p53 and p21 (waf1/cip1) was increased compared with that of the controls. The levels of sphingolipids in serum, liver and tumor tissue from myriocin-treated mice were decreased compared with those of controls. The decreased levels of sphingolipids in serum and liver of melanoma mice treated with myriocin suggests that myriocin may be accessible to tumor tissues of advanced melanoma. Taken together, the suppression of sphingolipid synthesis by myriocin inhibits the expression of Cdc25C or activates the expression of p53 and p21 (waf1/cip1) . This is followed by Cdc2 and cyclin B1 inhibition which results in the suppression of tumor growth.</P>

Background:?We have reported that arterial micro-calcification (AMC) of vascular access has a negative impact on access patency and cardiovascular mortality in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Because AMC is diagnosed by histologic examination, it cannot be commonly performed. Coronary artery calcification (CAC) is quite common and known risk factors of cardiovascular mortality in HD patients. It can be easily detected by noninvasive computed tomography. Therefore we evaluated which CAC may predict AMC in nondiabetic HD patients, because we excluded impact of diabetes mellitus on CAC and AMC.?Methods:?Forty non diabetic incident HD patients who received vascular access operation were included in this study. The AMC was diagnosed by pathologic examination of arterial specimen by von Kossa stain, which was acquired during the operation. All patients underwent a multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) imaging procedure and coronary artery calcium score (CACS) was calculated. Patients were classified into two groups, according to the CACS, as low (<100), in 23 patients, and high (≥100), in 17 patients. We compared CACS between the patients with and without AMC.?Results:Mean age was 63.4±16.5 years and the male gender was 24 (60.0%). The incidence of AMC was 35.0% (n=14). The mean CACS was 185.9±299.4 (0-1421.7), and the median value was 54.1. Patients with high CACS group were older than low CACS group(74.1±9.7 211vs 55.5±16.1, p<0.05). High CACS showed higher incidence of AMC compared to low CACS group (58.8% vs 17.4%, p<0.05). By binary logistic regression, high CACS was independently associated with positive AMC (OR 8.381, 95% CI 1.725-40.732, p<0.05).?Conclusions:?The present study suggests that CAC predicts AMC of vascular access in nondiabetic HD patients.

This survey was conducted to obtain basic data about organic matter such as BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), DOC (Dissolved Organic Carbon) and TOC (Total Organic Carbon) in agricultural water in Gyeongnam province. BOD and COD are currently used for water quality indices, but adoption of TOC is being suggested. The surface water samples were collected at 39 locations in Gyeongnam province in April, July and October. Average concentrations of BOD, COD, DOC and TOC were 1.6, 3.3, 5.3 and $5.7mg\;L^{-1}$, respectively. In July, average concentrations of BOD and COD were 2.4 and $3.9mg\;L^{-1}$, respectively, showing these values were higher than other months. Average concentrations of TOC in April, July and October were 4.8, 7.4 and $4.8mg\;L^{-1}$, respectively. This suggested that the highest value of TOC was in July. Average decomposition efficiencies for BOD-C/TOC and COD-C/TOC were 11.4 and 23.9%, respectively. Correlation coefficient of TOC and DOC was higher by 0.995, whereas that of TOC and COD was lower by 0.763. Especially, TOC and DOC were highly related than others.
3D printed noise-cancelling triboelectric nanogenerator

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), which converts the ambient mechanical energy to electricity by friction, is one of the most promising methods for powering up portable devices. Despite of the successful development so far, there still remain some issues to be improved. Here, we focus on the generation and maintenance of high output-power under harsh environments, and the noise cancellation of the device to keep a stable operation for a long period of time. The TENG, fabricated using a 3D printer, is a fully-packaged, cylinder-shaped device with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) bumpy balls inside and linearly patterned Al film on the inner surface. The new design and optimization remarkably increases the output power up to 45mW, operable under harsh environments such as water, providing enough DC power for charging a battery of smart watch. The noise occurring during the operation is canceled to the noise level (~50dB) of a normal conversation, by approximately 20dB, with no degradation of the output power by using highly compressible, conductive Ag nanowires-embedded polyurethane sponge instead of Al. This helps people around the device feel comfortable during the operation. <P>Sphingomyelin is the most abundant sphingolipid in mammalian cells and is mostly present in the plasma membrane. A new analytical method using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed to quantify sphingomyelin in mouse plasma and tissues, 3T3-L1 cells, rat aortic smooth muscle cells, and HT-29 cells. Sphingomyelin and dihydrosphingomyelin, an internal standard, were separated by high-performance thin-layer chromatography and simultaneously hydrolyzed with sphingolipid ceramide <I>N</I>-deacylase and sphingomyelinase to release sphingosine and dihydrosphingosine, respectively. Sphingomyelin content was measured by HPLC following <I>o</I>-phthalaldehyde derivatization. Sphingomyelin concentrations in 3T3-L1 cells, rat aortic smooth muscle cells, and HT-29 cells were 60.10 ± 0.24, 62.69 ± 0.08, and 58.38 ± 0.37 pmol/<I><I>μ</I></I>g protein, respectively, whereas those in brain, kidney, and liver of ICR mice were 55.60 ± 0.43, 43.75 ± 0.21, and 22.26 ± 0.14 pmol/<I><I>μ</I></I>g protein. The sphingomyelin concentration in mouse plasma was 407.40 ± 0.31 <I><I>μ</I></I>M. The limits of detection and quantification for sphingomyelin were 5 and 20 pmol, respectively, in the HPLC analysis with fluorescence detection. This sensitivity was sufficient for analyzing sphingomyelin in biological samples. In conclusion, this analytical method is a sensitive and specific technique for quantifying sphingomyelin and was successfully applied to diverse biological samples with excellent reproducibility.</P>
