Differences in the pattern of leg muscles in back pain patients

The purpose of this study is to establish a methodology to support the diagnosis of back pain. This study focused on minimizing the damage to back pain patients using the analysis of EMGs avoiding MVC measurements. Participants were asked to perform a simple walking task and the measured muscles were biceps and lateral gastrocnemius. The t-test was performed by frequency analysis of EMG and showed significant difference in frequency analysis. It is considered a compensation mechanism that transfers weight support to the lower body in relation to muscle weakness. Through this study, it can be used as basic data for developing algorithm to diagnose low back pain.
Development of research methodology for low back pain diagnosis: A survey on diagnosis techniques

MRI is a miracle technology, but not for most low back pain. Scientific evidence suggests that imaging techniques like MRI and X-ray have only 12~15 % agreement with the clinical diagnosis of low back pain. The purpose of this study was to develop research methodology to diagnosis low back pain without neurological symptoms. The literature review was conducted in Google Scholar using the following keywords and their combinations: ‘low back pain’, ‘EMG’, ‘diagnosis’, and ‘patient’. The literature search was restricted for the last ten years. After screening the titles and abstracts of the studies found, the full texts were evaluated for definite inclusion. Also, we have studied posture showing different muscle pattern, the physiological difference among patient with and without low back pain and healthy person. In result, this paper discusses pros and cons of each diagnosis method and discrimination method reviewed from the survey and comparing different algorithms. Also, discussing possibilities of detecting low back pain using bio-signals. We found that discrimination analysis and other predictive analysis for low back pain had a prediction error depending on the subject sample and affective. Also, pattern code book was not verified regarding accuracy. Mostly, the EMG signals were used for low back diagnosis. However, electrocardiography, skin temperature, skin conductivity, subjective affective (Borg scale), etc., also necessary to be included in the diagnosis method. Our methodology would include those parameters to the diagnosis of low back pain.
Development of Stroke Pre-diagnosis Method by using IoE and ECG

In Korea, stroke is a very early mortality disease, and preliminary studies have been actively conducted to identify the cause of death and prevent. Among them, research is being conducted in various fields to determine the stroke by measuring vital signs. In a previous study, electrocardiogram (ECG) is a useful parameter for the diagnosis of stroke. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for determining stroke through comparison of ECG R-R interval in 30 healthy and 20 stroke patients. For this purpose, electrocardiogram data for 30 healthy people were measured and electrocardiogram data for 20 stroke patients were collected through previous studies. The standard deviation of R-R interval was calculated and compared with the standard deviation of R-R interval at 5-minute interval for 24 hours. The average of R-R interval in stroke patients group was 35.3 ± 18.9 ms (Kim et al., 2005), and the average of R-R interval in healthy group was 62.1 ± 8 ms. The difference between stroke patients and normal subjects was significant. Based on these results, we developed a self-stroke pre-diagnosis device with electrode patch on the left chest area in using a Bayes’ theorem. If the electrocardiogram was within the range of 35.3 ± 18.9ms, it was recommended to the hospital as a stroke patient and 62.1 ± 8ms. The device is designed that if measured value is between the stroke patient R-R interval range, a warning sign is displayed. If we analyze the frequency of the electrocardiogram data and the P, Q, R, S, T waves, we will be able to make more precise stroke pre-diagnosis device.
Design of Filter-less Air Purifier by Using UI/UX Metrics

Objective: The aim of this study is to design an overall physical interface such as shape design, icons, and UI function of a filter-less air purifier with dust-collecting technology. Background: As a result of market research for the product, existing air purifier has not been able to solve the disadvantage of complexity of menu and noise and over-function. In addition, not only the function of the product but also the design has become an important factor of consumption. Method: This study was divided into research for the derivation of shape design concept and research for part of interior design. In the study for the design concept, we used the methodology based on the survey and quantification type 1 theory. For the interface design, we conducted icon preference test using the eye-tracker. Results: As a result of the quantification type 1 analysis, it was found that the rounded shape, top interface position, plastic texture, and penetrating shape of ventilation part were chosen to improve consumer’s feeling of healthy and fresh purifier. In the results of the eye-tracking experiment, the subjects selected the house and wave pattern icons with the air cleaning function, the LED on/off function icon selected, and the majority of participants selected the pest control icon. Conclusion: It is expected that Small and Medium enterprises would be able to improve their competitiveness by using UI/UX metrics.
게임 중독군의 게임 중 스트레스 반응민감도에 따른 HRV 파라미터 추출

Objective: The purpose of this study is to extract quantitative parameters that indicate significant differences in ECG (electrocardiogram) between game-addicted group and non-addicted group. Background: Although the concept and side-effects of game addiction are recognized around the world, there is no objective means to define game addiction among health authorities, academic societies, and institutions. Also, studies suggesting objective references have been lacking so far. Considering the limitations of the current diagnosis subjective scale, it is necessary to make a quantitative assessment for the prevention and treatment of game addiction. Method: With the existing diagnostic questionnaire, authors classified subjects into game-addicted groups and non-addicted group, and used ECG parameters representing heart rate variability. The parameters were analyzed by applying various window-sizes based on specific game situations. A t-test was used to compare the two groups. Finally, correlation analysis and factor analysis were performed to extract the best parameters to differentiate the two groups. Results: The large window size over 20 minutes of gameplay time, showed no significant difference between the two groups. When the event data were analyzed, there was no significant difference during a player character killed an opponent player. However, when the player character was killed, there were significant differences in parameters. In particular, these differences were most prominent in a window size of 1min 30 sec after the player character was killed. After that, RMSSD and LF were found to be the most sensitive parameters through correlation analysis and factor analysis. Conclusion: In this study, we measured and analyzed the stress response difference by using ECG parameters between game addicted group and the non-addicted group. As a result, it was observed that the game addiction group was sensitive to stress stimuli in a particular situation. The outcome of to extract this study is the optimal window-size and parameters for developing a quantitative model discriminating the sign of addiction among game users in the future. Application: The parameters extracted in this study can be further tested to develop an algorithm to diagnose the addicted players, and the measuring technique used in this study is textile and non-invasive to be used at device development in the future.

본 연구에서는 ASMR 사운드에 따른 주관적 감성반응과 뇌파 반응을 통해 청각 자극에 의한 효과에 대한 연구를 실시하였다. 본 연구를 위해 실험참가자에게 총 12 가지의 ASMR 음원을 각 2 분동안 들려주었으며 뇌파 측정과 주관적 감성 평가를 위한 이완-긴장, 불쾌-쾌와 관련된 설문조사를 실시하였다. 뇌파는 F3, F4, T3, T4, P3, P4, O1, O2 영역의 총 8 개 채널을 측정하였으며 각 음원은 후기 40 초의 데이터를 바탕으로 각 채널의 이완/긴장지표를 산출하여 이를 기준으로 분석하였고 회귀분석을 이용하여 각 채널의 이완/긴장 지표와 이완/긴장 설문조사 및 불쾌/쾌 감성 설문조사 결과와의 관계를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 긴장/이완에 유의미하게 나타난 예측자 뇌파 채널은 P4, O1 으로 나타났으며 설명력은 77.3%로 나타났다. 불쾌/쾌에 유의미하게 나타난 예측자 뇌파 채널은 F3, F4, P4, O1 로 나타났다. 이에 따라 가장 이완되는 음원은 ‘장작 타는 소리’, ‘비 내리는 소리’로 나타났으며, 가장 긴장되는 음원으로 ‘남성이 속삭이는 소리’, ‘여성이 속삭이는 소리’로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과로 ASMR 음원에 대한 집단의 경향성을 파악할 수 있었으며 집단에 대한 청각 자극의 효과를 예측하는 모델을 개발할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
