Impact of Justice and Information Sharing on Logistics Performance in Supply Chain

        Changjoon LEE,Soohyo KIM,Choyeon KIM 한국유통과학회 2024 유통과학연구 Vol.22 No.8

Purpose: This paper aims to reveal similarities and differences in behaviors in negative consumer-brand relationships. Thus, we focused on consumer motivation which includes intensity and direction of behaviors. The motivation for negative customer behavior has been discussed in the context of brand hate, but there is only limited research that has tried to measure it using quantitative methods. We are trying to measure customers' motivation in negative consumer-brand relationships and reveal the relationship between in-field customers’ negative behaviors. Research design, data, and methodology: We adopt Reactive-Proactive aggression to measure the motivation of customers' behaviors in a negative consumer-brand relationship. Also, to reveal the relationship between in-field behavior and customer aggression, we survey Korean game communities to reactive-proactive aggression and behaviors, whether they participate, in each observed behavior during the serial negative consumer movements that occurred in the Korean game industry. As a methodology, we run multinomial logistic regression. Results: We observed 9 behaviors in this case, and we found that reactive-proactive aggression is related to participation and motivation of these behaviors. Conclusions: We suggest the potential of reactive-proactive aggression as motivation for customers' complex negative behaviors. Based on this potential, we hope reactive-proactive aggression could be used to reveal similarities and differences in behaviors in negative consumer-brand relationships.

Inhibition of Phthalic Anhydride-Induced Skin Inflammation in IL-4 Knock-out Mice

        Changjoon Bae,Miran Kim,Chuelkyu Kim,Byoungguk Kim,Sunbo Shim,Suhae Lee,Jisoon Sin,Jongmin Woo,Nonghoon Choe,Zaeyoung Ryoo,Changkyu Lee,Kabryong Chae 한국실험동물학회 2008 Laboratory Animal Research Vol.24 No.3

Atopic dermatitis and asthma are common chronic inflammatory diseases. A pivotal role of IL-4 in airway inflammation has been elucidated by studying mice in which IL-4 was genetically disrupted. However, there have been no trials to examine the effect of IL-4 dysfunction on skin inflammation. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the role of IL-4 in skin inflammation using IL-4-/- mice. To induce skin inflammation, a 15% phthalic anhydride solution was repeatedly applied to the dorsal surfaces of the ears of both IL-4-/- and BALB/c mice for 5 weeks. After treatment, skin inflammation-related factors were detected in the ear tissue, lymph nodes, spleens, and sera of the mice. Ear thicknesses and weights of the auricular lymph nodes, indicating the degree of skin inflammation, were significantly smaller in IL-4-/- mice than in BALB/c mice. Immunoglobulin E concentrations in sera were also significantly lower in IL-4-/- mice. In cytokine secretion profiles, expression levels of inflammation-inducing cytokines and chemokines, such as IL-6, IL-10, IL-13, KC, MCP-1 and VEGF were lower in IL-4-/- mice than in BALB/c. These findings suggest that knock-out of IL-4 relieves allergen-induced skin inflammation. Thus, the modulation of IL-4 expression may provide important insights into therapeutic targets of chronic skin inflammatory diseases, such as atopic dermatitis.

Impact of Informational Justice on Pharmaceutical Enterprises

        Changjoon LEE,하병천,So-Youn LIM 한국유통과학회 2020 유통과학연구 Vol.18 No.8

Purpose: This paper addresses issues that concern business-to-business marketing, namely informational justice in the supply chain or organizations. As previously reported by other studies, there is information asymmetry in organizations. The present study explores and addresses this in the medical industry, aiming to investigate how informational justice relates to information quality or logistics performance in the medical industry. This study also suggests a method for development of informational justice in medicine-related fields. Design, methodology, approach: The hypothesis and model were developed through a review of the literature. To this end, we surveyed 293 valid survey samples collected from occupational pharmacists and used structural equation modelling for analysis. Findings: The results of the empirical analysis of the hypotheses showed that symmetric sharing of information between pharmacists and employees of pharmaceutical companies has a positive effect on the perceived quality. Moreover, the results showed that quality information has a positive impact on logistics performance, whereas informational justice does not. Conclusions, implications: If information and explanations are exchanged fairly, information and logistics performance—as well as operational expenses—will be enhanced. Furthermore, our study has immense implications outside of academic applications since it suggests practical solutions to government and medical industry employees.

Informational Justice, Cognitive Trust, and Satisfaction: Purchasers' Perspective of Healthcare Distribution Market

LEE, Changjoon Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 유통과학연구 Vol.19 No.2

Purpose: We examined informational justice, cognitive trust, and satisfaction in healthcare distribution market and their associations within the physician-patient (provider-purchaser) relationship. Methodology: 253 valid survey samples collected from patients and used structural equation modelling for analysis. Findings: We postulated that (1) physicians' informational justice has a positive impact on patients' cognitive trust, (2) patients' cognitive trust has a positive impact on satisfaction, and (3) patients' perceived informational justice has a positive impact on satisfaction. Participants were 253 people who had visited a hospital in South Korea in the past year. Results confirmed that the presence of informational justice has a positive impact on patients' cognitive trust and satisfaction in the physician-patient relationship. Additionally, once cognitive trust was built, it positively influenced patients' satisfaction. We discussed the concept and the impacts of informational justice in light of our analyses regarding patients' perceived cognitive trust and their satisfaction in the physician-patient relationship. Implications: These results emphasize the importance of ethics in healthcare, particularly physicians' frankness and honesty when providing information to patients. Further, these findings present implications for physician education, as part of their training must involve building their patients' cognitive trust as a prerequisite for developing patient satisfaction.

Patient Fidelity to Medical Services: The Roles of Authenticity and Affective Trust

Changjoon LEE,Soohyo KIM 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Industrial Distribution & Business( Vol.11 No.11

Purpose: The supply of and demand for medical services continue to increase as the current social environment changes. Consequently, competition among medical institutions is intensifying and hospitals must establish appropriate management strategies to improve the medical services they provide. This study suggests that the authenticity of doctors is a factor in improving medical-service quality and examines the effect authenticity has on the affective trust and satisfaction of patients. Design, methodology, and approach: The study utilized previous studies to examine the significance of potential variables, established hypotheses and used a questionnaire to confirm these hypotheses. The questionnaire was distributed to patients who had visited a hospital in the previous six months. Responses were analyzed empirically using structural equation modeling. Findings: The analysis found that a physician’s authenticity has a significant impact on the affective trust of patients. While patients’ affective trust does not have a similar strong impact on patient satisfaction, physician authenticity does have a significant impact on patient satisfaction. Conclusion and implications: This study examined the roles of authenticity, affective trust, and patient satisfaction in doctor-patient relationships in the medical services field. The implication of the findings is that physician authenticity is a prerequisite for patient satisfaction of medical services.

Collaborative Communication, Information Sharing and Supply Chain Performance

Changjoon LEE,김수효 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Industrial Distribution & Business( Vol.12 No.5

Purpose: This study empirically investigates the effect of collaborative communication and information sharing on the supply chain performance of South Korean pharmaceutical companies. Specifically, it understands the importance collaborative communication and suggests a method for investigating communication in academic research on the pharmaceutical industry. Investigating this sector is crucial because the importance of the pharmaceutical industry is increasing globally against the background of the Covid-19 pandemic. Research design, data, and methodology: A questionnaire was administered to employees of South Korean pharmaceutical companies and 244 valid responses were used for the statistical analysis. Additionally, structural equation modeling was used to measure the relationships between the observed and latent variables. Results: Collaborative communication has a positive effect on information sharing. However, information sharing, unlike collaborative communication, does not exhibit a significant positive relationship with supply chain performance. These results indicate that it is important to communicate effectively in the supply chain rather than strive for the right type of information sharing. Conclusions: Consumers and retailers within the supply chain should continue to strive for candid communication. This study is meaningful, as it empirically tests the relationships between collaborative communication, information sharing, and supply chain performance in the South Korean pharmaceutical industry.

The Impact of Interactional Justice and Supply-Chain Collaboration on Sustainable SCM Performance: The Case of Multinational Pharmaceutical Firms

LEE, Changjoon,HA, Byoung-Chun Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.2

This study explored the impact of interactional justice on supply-chain collaboration and sustainable supply-chain performance. Accordingly, it classified interactional justice of supply-chain management (SCM) into interpersonal and informational justice, and empirically classified the effects of these subordinate concepts on supply-chain collaboration and sustainable supply-chain performance. To this end, 700 questionnaires were distributed, and 201 final valid responses were used for the statistical analysis which revealed the significant positive influence of interpersonal justice on informational justice. This indicates that courtesy, respect, and proper words are important in the relationship between buyers and sellers. Both interpersonal and informational justice had a significant positive relationship with supply-chain collaboration. The results suggest that a fair-trade environment should be cultivated to encourage and facilitate seller-buyer collaboration. Lastly, supply-chain collaboration had a positive influence on sustainable supply-chain performance. This implies that if justice is not perceived in the seller-buyer relationship, collaboration can be hindered, which negatively impacts corporate performance. These findings also helped to understand the importance of interactional justice and to propose a new relationship between interpersonal and informational justice.

Impact of Environmental Concern on Image of Internal GSCM Practices and Consumer Purchasing Behavior

LEE, Changjoon,LIM, So-Youn Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.6

As environmental concerns continue to grow, green supply chain management (GSCM) is attracting attention as an element of competitive advantage for companies. This study examined internal GSCM practices to show how they influenced the end-point of the supply chain from the perspective of the end-consumer. It identified the effects of environmental concerns on consumer purchasing behavior mediated by the company image of internal GSCM practices. Data were collected through an email survey of Korean consumers. Reliability and validity were verified using SPSS 18.0. Cronbach's alpha, and confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed that environmental concerns had a positive impact on such practices, and the image of internal GSCM practices was found to have a significantly positive effect on consumer purchasing behavior. Companies will have to actively reflect environmental factors in their operational activities, and GSCM implementation will become a necessity. A positive image of internal environmental management and eco-design, which are key elements of internal GSCM practices, strengthened the company's eco-friendly image and ultimately affected consumer purchasing behavior. This suggests that it is important for companies to evaluate their environmental attitude and make eco-friendly products from a consumer's perspective, making it a differentiation strategy for a company in building an eco-friendly corporate image.
