      • Exploring the relationship between Appreciative Inquiry, Lean and perceived co-worker health

        Many Quality Management approaches, such as Lean, are deficit-based and focus on problems and how to overcome them and another way to approach this could be to focus on possibilities. When focusing on problems instead of possibilities, organizations are prevented from using their full potential which leads to decreased organizational capacity. Appreciative Inquiry is, in contrast to a deficit-based approach, a positive approach to change. The problems should not be ignored but, by focusing on strengths, this approach could be more effective when it comes to promoting better workplace health. Earlier research has examined if Lean values affect co-workers□ perceived health and found a connection. Even though the relationships between co-workers□ perceived health and Lean leadership and also Lean values were not very strong, they are all positively correlated. What happens however if we introduce Appreciative Inquiry to see in what way it links to Lean values and co-worker perceived health? Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to explore if and how Appreciative Inquiry correlates with Lean values and co-workers□ perceived health. Methodology/approach - To investigate the relationship between Lean, Appreciative Inquiry and perceived co-worker health, a questionnaire was developed based on two previously tested questionnaires. The new questionnaire was filled in by 841 co-workers at a Swedish municipality and was then analysed to explore in what way Appreciative Inquiry correlates with a number of Lean values as well as perceived co-worker health. Findings - All variables were found to be significantly correlated with the variable □Appreciative Inquiry□. The variable □Continuous improvements□ relates most to □Appreciative Inquiry□ followed by □Eliminating Waste□ as those variables can be considered to have a large positive relationship. □Supportive Leadership□ and □System view□ have a medium positive relation to □Appreciative Inquiry□ and the variables □Health□ and □Customer focus□ have a small relation to Appreciative Inquiry in this context.

      • 소티-표적 기반의 공군탄약소요 산정 소프트웨어 개선에 대한 연구

        본 논문은 2011년도에 개발한 공군탄약소요 산정 알고리즘과 소프트웨어의 한계였던 소티당 1개표적만을 공격가능토록 모의하였던 점을 개선한 것이다. 실제 작전상황과 유사하도록, 1개 소티당최대 무장을 장착하고, 복수개의 표적을 공격하게 함으로써 전쟁초기에 소모되는 탄약소요량을 실질적으로 산출되게 하였다. 이를 통해 표적파괴 효과는 20%가 증가하였고, 정밀유도무기의 소요량은 6~82%가 증가하였다. 또한 소프트웨어 기능 측면에서도 전쟁수행단계별로 표적별 추천무장을 달리할 수 있게 하였으며, 전쟁단계 및 전쟁일수와 같은 각종 고정변수들을 가변적으로 변경할 수 있도록 구현함으로써, 실제 전쟁 상황과 같이 최대한 유동적으로 모의될 수 있도록 개선하였다. 또한 신규 항공기 및 무장체계의 추가와 삭제가 자유롭도록 개선하였으며, 소프트웨어 운용을 위한 사용자 편의성을 증가시켰다. 아울러, 자동반복모의(1~50회) 기능을 추가하고 반복실행결과에 대한 통계값을 제공함으로써, 시뮬레이션을 통해 산출된 소요량의 신뢰성을 향상시키도록 구현하였다. Furthermore, the flexibility of war simulations was improved by allowing the alternation of ammunition through the stages of war. The convenience of adding newly developed or imported aircraft or ammunitions was also increased by providing the consistency checking function. Also the automatic iteration function, a new function added by this work, can provide statistic insight of simulation results to the user.

      • MEDICAL TOURISM: MIRACLE OR MIRAGE?

        Purpose - Medical tourism is a recent phenomenon that has generated much interest due to its huge economic potential. In the ASEAN region, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore have the government machinery involved in expediting the growth of the industry. The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of medical tourism on the healthcare delivery system of Malaysia as a destination country, with comparison made to Singapore and Thailand. Design/methodology/approach - The paper is based on a review of literature on medical tourism and secondary data obtained from government official documents. The literature is analyzed to draw out substantive issues affecting destination countries arising from the rapid growth of medical tourism. Findings - The authors argue that while patient inflow and revenue has been on the uptrend in Malaysia, the manifestation of rapid growth of the industry needs further evaluation. Malaysia still lags behind Thailand and Singapore in capitalising on the full economic potential of the industry. At the same time immediate impact such as internal brain drain has been observed. Policy framework needs reevaluation in order to assure benefits from the industry permeate all levels of society. Originality/value - This paper looks beyond marketing and motivation of medical tourism, to its socio-economic impact on Malaysia as a destination country. Policy recommendations formulated adds value to the study.

      • 소티-표적 기반의 공군탄약소요 산정 소프트웨어 개선에 대한 연구

Over the years, it was known that the K-2011 had a significant limitation in that it could not simulate multiple air-to-surface attacks for one sortie. In this paper, we modified the algorithm to attack multiple targets through single sortie. As a result, it was shown that the modified model can reflect the reality of warfare by the increased number of required ammunition and destroyed targets.         일반적으로 무인체 관련된 핵심기술은 경로생성부분, 경로추적부분, 그리고 장애물 회피부분으로 나누어진다. 특히, 지상 무인체의 경우 차량동특성을 고려한 곡률이 반영된 경로생성이 중요하며 장애물 회피부분과의 통합 역시 중요시되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 차량동특성을 고려한 경로생성과 회피할 장애물을 모델링하였다. 통합(경로생성 및 장애물 회피)을 위해 최적제어에 적용이 가능한 시간 할당 및 이동구간 개념이 적용된 경로를생성하였다.

      • 스포츠급 경항공기 형상 변화에 따른 공력특성 비교

        본 논문에서는 국토교통부에서 스포츠급 경항공기 개발을 위해 의뢰한 풍동시험의 공력 데이터를 비교 분석함으로써, 스포츠급 경항공기 개발에 유용한 공기역학적 정보를 제시하였다. 풍동시험은 유속 40m/s에서 V05 모델과 최근 항공기의 안정성 및 조종성 향상을 위해 설계가 일부 보완된 V204 모델에 대해 수행하였으며, 각각 측정한 공력데이터를 비교 분석하였다. 측정된 공력데이터들에 대해 흐름각 효과, 벽면효과, 지지대 간섭효과를 보정함으로써 보다 정확한 데이터를 산출하였다. 또한 실제 비행 시의 레이놀즈수 유동을 모사하기 위하여 Trip Strip을 부착하였다. Trip Strip부착 시 항력계수가 증가하고 최소항력 받음각이 낮아지는 결과를 확인하였다. 측정한 공력데이터를 비교 분석한 결과, V05 모델과 V204 모델에서 측정된 항력계수와 양력계수는 전반적으로 유사한 경향성을 나타내었고, 실속영역에서 V204 모델의 양력특성이 향상되었다. 하지만 V204 모델의 종방향 정안정성은 V05 모델보다 감소되어 추가적인 형상개선이 요구된다. In this study, the aerodynamic characteristics of light sports airplane shapes were measured at subsonic wind tunnel in Korea Air Force Academy. The wind tunnel test were performed with two different models, V05 and V204, at the velocity of 40m/s. To obtain accurate data, flow angle, wall, and strut effect were calibrated. The drag and lift coefficient of both models showed similar tendencies in most of the angle of attack; however, the some discrepancy in lift were found at the high angle of attack region. The effects of trip strip were investigated in order to simulate the Reynolds number of an actual flight condition. The trip strip was attached on the wing. For the model with trip strip, the drag coefficient was increased and the minimum drag angle of attack was diminished. The longitudinal static stability for V204, the modified model, was decreased compared to the previous model, V05, which requires additional configuration change for V204.

      • 공군사관학교 영어교육과정 모형 개발

        The purpose of the current study is to develop the system for English curriculum of Korea Air Force Academy. To this end, this study analysed the concepts and the relationship of English curriculum, course, and syllabus and investigated methods to design English curriculum. To develop a model of English curriculum of Korea Air Force Academy, the current situation of English education and the educational environment of the Academy were examined. Based on the problems of the current English education and the results of the environmental analysis including students, teachers, and educational conditions, the purpose and goal of English education established and English courses were constructed to achieve the goal of English education. Finally, the ways to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum were presented. Thus, the present study attempted to establish a model which can connect the purpose and goal of English education, educational contents and methods, and evaluation systematically.

      • 저추력 궤도전이 최적제어 문제에서 Legendre Pseudo-spectral 기법의 적용

        저추력을 이용하는 인공위성 궤도전이 문제에 Legendre pseudo-spectral 기법을 적용하여 최적해를 구하였다. 해는 2차원 극좌표계의 상태변수와 제어변수로 구성된다. 상태변수는 초기시간부터 최종시간까지 거리와 법선방향 및 접선방향 속도이다. 제어변수는 인공위성 속도벡터의 접선 성분과추력 방향의 사잇각 이다. 본 연구에서 적용한 궤도전이 최적제어 문제는 제한시간에 최대에너지를 목적함수로 하는 문제로, 간접법을 통해서는 수렴해를 찾기 매우 어려운 민감한 문제이다. 그러나 직접법인 Legendre pseudo-spectral 기법을 적용함으로써 쉽게 수렴해를 구할 수 있었으며, 적은노드수를 적용하여도 좋은 수렴성능을 가짐을 확인하였다. 구한 수렴해를 이용한 초기값 가정을 통해, 개루프(open-loop)해를 구할 수 있었으며, 각각의 수렴한 궤적들이 서로 일치함을 확인함으로써 수렴해가 최적해임을 확인하였다 The optimal solution is obtained for the low-thrust spacecraft orbit transfer problem using a Legendre pseudo-spectral method. The results are states and control variables in 2-D polar coordinates. The state variables represent the distance from the origin of the attracting body and velocity in radial and tangential direction. The control variable is the angle between radial velocity and thrust vector. The objective function for this optimal control problem is maximizing the energy at a fixed final time. The solution from Legendre pseudo-spectral method is calculated more easier than indirect method. The results show a good performance in convergence when the fewer nodes are applied; and the implementation of the open-loop solution using the results of Legendre pseudo-spectral method shows the same results.
