Combined experimental and DFT-TDDFT characterization studies of crystalline mesoporous-assembled [ZrO2]NPs and [DPPP+Gly/ZrO2]C nanocomposite thin film

        Ahmed F. Al-Hossainy,Amal Y. Sediq,Safwat A. Mahmoud 대한금속·재료학회 2021 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.17 No.2

[(Z)-2-((1,3-bis(diphenyl phosphaneyl) propylidene) amino) acetic acid/Zirconium oxide nanoparticles] composites thin film[DPPP + Gly/ZrO2]C is synthesized by utilizing physical vapor deposition (PVD) with a speed rate of 2000 rpm/30 s. Theoptimization of the samples was performed using density functional theory (DFT) by DMol3 and Cambridge Serial TotalEnergy Package (CASTEP) program. The [DPPP + Gly/ZrO2]C nanocomposite thin film is examined by different techniquesincluding scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1HNMR),and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). The [DPPP + Gly/ZrO2]C nanocomposite thin film with the thickness (150 ± 5 nm)is fabricated at optimization conditions. The optical constants (refractive index, n() , extinction coefficient, k() , dielectricconstants ( 1() and 2() ) and optical conductivity ( 1() and 2() )) for [DPPP + Gly/ZrO2]C nanocomposite thin film arecomputed and compared by using experiment and CATSTEP methods. The optical properties of simulated FTIR, XRD,and CATSTEP of the considered fiber nanocomposites are in somewhat compatible with the experimental study. The nanonanocomposite thin films present a promising result to be a good candidate for optoelectronics and solar cell applications.

The Electronic and Thermoelectric Properties of Si1-xVx Alloys from First Principles

Ramanathan, Amall Ahmed,Khalifeh, Jamil Mahmoud Korean Society of Microscopy 2017 Applied microscopy Vol.47 No.3

The effect of temperature and vanadium metal concentration on the electronic and thermoelectric properties of Si in the diamond cubic structure has been investigated using a combination of density functional theory simulations and the semi classical Boltzmann's theory. The BotzTrap code within the constant relaxation time approximation has been used to obtain the Seebeck coefficient and other transport properties of interest for alloys of the structure $Si_{1-x}V_x$, where x is 0, 0.125, 0.25, 0.375, and 0.5. The thermoelectric properties have been extracted for a temperature range of 300 K to 1,000 K. The general trend with V atom substitution for Si causes the Seeback coefficient to increase and the thermal conductivity to decrease for the various alloys. The optimum values are for $Si_5V_3$ and $Si_4V_4$ alloys for charge carrier concentrations of $10^{21}cm^{-3}$ in the mid temperature range of 500~800 K. This is a very desirable effect for a promising thermoelectric and the figure of merit ZT approaches 0.2 at 600 K for the p-type $Si_5V_3$ alloy.

      • RECK Gene Promoter rs10814325 Polymorphism in Egyptian Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma on Top of Chronic Hepatitis C Viral Infection

Fakhry, Amal Bahgat,Ahmed, Asmaa Ismail,AbdelAlim, Mahmoud Abdo,Ramadan, Dalia Ibrahim Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.5

Background: The reversion-inducing-cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motifs (RECK) gene is a novel transformation suppressor gene linked to several malignancies. Objective: To analyze any association between RECK gene rs10814325 single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and HCC susceptibility with various clinicopathological and laboratory data. Materials and Methods: RECK gene rs10814325 SNP was estimated, using real-time PCR, in 30 HCC patients on top of HCV infection, 30 HCV related cirrhotic patients and 30 healthy controls. Results: No special pattern of association could be detected on comparing the RECK gene rs10814325 genotypes(P=0.5), or alleles(P=0.49) among the studied groups. HCC patients with TT genotype had younger age (mean of $54.1{\pm}6.0$ years vs $60.6{\pm}10.2$ years for TC/CC genotypes, P=0.035). Abdominal distension was significantly greater in TT genotype patients (75% vs 30%for TC/CC genotypes, P=0.045). The TT genotype was present in 75% of patients with lymph node metastasis. Serum GGT levels were higher in TT genotype patients [80 (48.5-134.8) IU/L vs 40 (33-87.5) IU/L for TC/CCgenotypes], and lower limb edema was observed in 60% for TT vs 20% for TC/CCgenotypes, but both just failed to reach significance (p=0.05 and p=0.06 respectively). Conclusions: RECK gene rs10814325 T>C could not be considered a risk factor for HCC development on top of HCV, but may be related to the disease progression and metastasis.

The impact of caudally administrated tramadol on immune response and analgesic efficacy for pediatric patients: a comparative randomized clinical trial

( Jehan Ahmed Sayed ),( Sayed Kaoud Abd Elshafy ),( Emad Zareif Kamel ),( Mohamed Amir Fathy Riad ),( Amal Ahmed Mahmoud ),( Ghada Shalaby Khalaf ) 대한통증학회 2018 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.31 No.3

Background: Immune responses appear to be affected by anesthetics and analgesics. We investigated the effects of caudal tramadol on the postoperative immune response and pain management in pediatric patients. Methods: Sixty ASA-I pediatric patients aged 3-10 years undergoing lower abdominal surgery. Patients were randomly assigned either to a caudal bupivacaine (0.25%) group (group B), or a group that received caudal tramadol (1 mg/kg) added to the bupivacaine (0.25%) (group T). Both were diluted in a 0.9% NaCl solution to a total volume of 1ml/ kg. The systemic immune response was measured by collecting blood samples preoperatively, at the end of anesthesia, and at 24 and 72 hours postoperatively, and studied for interleukin IL-6, C-reactive proteins (CRP) cortisol levels, and leucocytes with its differential count. Postoperative pain was assessed along with sedation scales. Results: Postoperative production of IL-6 was significantly higher in group B at the end of anesthesia, than at the 24th hour, and at the 72nd hour in group B and group T, respectively. The immune response showed leukocytosis with increased percentages of neutrophil and monocytes, and a decreased lymphocyte response rate within both groups with no significant differences between the groups. Cortisol and CRP were significantly higher in group B. Conclusions: Adding tramadol to a caudal bupivacaine block can attenuate the pro-inflammatory cytokine response, Cortisol, and CRP in children undergoing lower abdominal surgery.
