A variety of programs to activate orchestra, effected by El Sistema which is the successful example of education for the orchestra in Venezuela, have been prepared and operating all over the world. In Korea, many projects, including Student Orchestra by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and El Sistema Korea by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, have been carried out to give more people the opportunity of orchestra education as well. Moreover, local governments and education offices of cities and provinces are supporting human resources and budget for culture and arts education. Based on it, the number of school with orchestra is increasing gradually. Although the environment for orchestra education gets better, it is hard to expect the effective management from school orchestra, because of the insufficiency of teachers who are specialized in orchestra education. In fact, the result of research showed that the teachers who participated in the survey were having difficulties in managing orchestras. The researcher has focused on the facts that there are not enough elementary school teachers who are specialized in instructing orchestra and that teachers, who just begin managing the school orchestra, have been going through the challenge by the poor training materials, the lack of managing experience and inadequate processing skill of administrative tasks. This study aims to provide substantive aids to the elementary school teachers who has experienced above difficulties on training and managing orchestra by producing the orchestra manual containing that what the orchestra is and how to organize and guide an orchestra. For more helpful and practical contents, following four research methods were applied in this study. First, the case study about the management of orchestra was conducted on El Sistema and other internal and external orchestras. By considering implications given by study of advanced orchestra educations, the researcher emphasized the necessity for developing a manual for a conductor of the elementary school orchestra. Second, extensive knowledge of music relevant to the orchestra was presented in an abridged form by referring to domestic and foreign literature. Third, a survey of school teachers who are instructing orchestra has been conducted. Through the findings, it has been inquired demands of the schools and the troubles that they have, found a way to overcome their problems. Finally, through interviews with conductors of professional orchestra and school teachers who are conducting elementary school orchestra, effective ways to instruct an orchestra and how to manage an orchestra are studied. Upon these methods this manual for elementary school orchestras has been developed. It is consist of three components. First of all, it is the philosophical background of instruction for the elementary school orchestra. In this part, the research has been conducted on the purpose of the government’s policy on the orchestra education, the social background and the educational value of El Sistema. It helps considering the educational meanings that the activity of the orchestra in an elementary school could have. Secondly, it is the ability that the conductor of the elementary school orchestra needs to have. The ability can be classified into two different categories. The one is musical capability and the other is administrative ability. The abilities presented in this manual are based on the teachers’ opinions who is instructing elementary school orchestras. Also, the manual suggests solutions to the problems that teachers have been experienced by referring to experts’ view. Lastly, the web sites where conductors can easily get the lists of music, orchestra scores in different levels and where the teachers are able to learn, for example; how to use the computer program for copying music scores, are included. This manual based on the results of analysis of demand of 30 conductors of the elementary school orchestra has been written for obtaining objectivity and providing a practical support to school. To be a specialized and systematic manual, it has also been composed by referring domestic and foreign books about orchestra and interviews with conductors of professional orchestra, musicians, elementary school teachers. Therefore this manual is expected to be useful for lots of school teachers who has trouble overall management of orchestra. * This Master’s thesis was submitted to the Committee of Graduate School of Education, Seoul National University of Education, in August 2012. 베네수엘라의 오케스트라 교육 성공 사례인 엘 시스테마의 영향으로 전 세계적으로 오케스트라 활성화를 위한 다양한 프로그램이 마련되어 운영되고 있다. 우리나라에서도 교과부의 학생 오케스트라, 문화체육관광부의 꿈의 오케스트라 등 오케스트라 교육의 수혜 계층을 확대하고자 많은 정책들을 추진되고 있다. 또한 지자체와 시도 교육청을 중심으로 문화 예술 교육을 위해 많은 인력과 예산을 지원하고 있으며 이를 기반으로 현재 오케스트라를 창단하여 운영하는 학교가 점차 늘어나고 있다. 하지만 학교 현장에서 오케스트라를 맡아 지도할만한 음악적 전문성을 갖춘 교사가 많지 않아 효과적이고 내실 있는 운영을 기대하기는 어려운 실정이다. 실제로 이 연구를 위해 실시한 요구 조사에서 설문에 참여한 지도 교사 모두가 운영에 난항을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 연구자는 문화 예술 교육에 관한 대중적인 인식과 관심이 높아가고 오케스트라 활성화에 동조하는 사회적 분위기가 조성되고 있는 이 시점에, 실제로 학교 현장에서 오케스트라를 지도할만한 전문적 역량을 지닌 초등 교사가 그리 많지 않다는 점, 오케스트라 운영을 갓 시작한 교사들이 빈약한 오케스트라 지도 자료, 지도 노하우의 부족, 오케스트라와 관련된 행정적 업무 처리의 미숙 등으로 인해 어려움을 겪고 있다는 점에 주목하였다. 이 연구는 오케스트라란 무엇이고 오케스트라를 어떻게 구성하여 운영하는지에 관한 구체적인 내용이 포함된 오케스트라 지침서를 마련하여 이상에서 언급한 오케스트라 운영에 어려움을 겪는 초등학교 지도 교사들에게 실질적인 도움을 제공하기 위한 것이다. 이 연구의 보다 효과적이고 실제적인 내용 구성을 위해 다양한 방법을 사용하였다. 첫째, 엘 시스테마와 그를 위시한 국내외의 오케스트라 운영 사례를 연구하였다. 선진 오케스트라 교육 사례가 이 연구에 미치는 시사점을 살펴봄으로써 초등학교 오케스트라 지휘자를 위한 지침서 개발의 당위성을 설명하였다. 둘째, 국내외의 문헌을 포괄적으로 검토하여 오케스트라와 관련된 광범위한 음악적 지식들을 핵심적으로 요약하여 제시하였다. 셋째, 초등학교 현장에서 오케스트라를 지도하고 있는 교사들을 대상으로 요구 조사를 실시하여 현장의 요구와 그들이 당면하고 있는 어려움을 알아보고, 그것을 극복할 수 있는 방안에 대하여 모색하였다. 마지막으로 프로 오케스트라 지휘자와 초등학교 오케스트라 지도 교사와의 면담을 통해 효과적인 오케스트라 지도 방법 및 노하우, 운영의 실제에 관하여 알아보았다. 이를 토대로 초등학교 오케스트라 운영을 위한 지침서가 마련되었다. 지침서의 내용은 크게 세 가지로 구성된다. 첫째, 초등학교 오케스트라 지도의 철학적 배경을 살펴본다. 여기에서는 정부의 오케스트라 지도 정책의 목적과 엘시스테마 교육의 배경 및 효과에 대하여 연구한다. 이를 통해 초등학교 오케스트라 활동이 어떤 교육적 의미가 있는지 고찰할 수 있다. 둘째, 초등학교 오케스트라 지도 교사에게 필요한 역량을 모색한다. 지도 교사의 역량은 크게 두 가지로 대별된다. 하나는 음악적 역량이고, 다른 하나는 운영적 역량이다. 역량의 내용은 현재 오케스트라를 지도하고 있는 초등학교 교사들의 의견을 기본으로 하였다. 또한 교사들이 겪고 있는 어려움을 파악하여 전문가의 견해를 들어 어려움을 극복할 수 있는 방안들을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 난이도별 악곡 목록과 오케스트라 악보를 쉽게 구할 수 있는 웹사이트를 제시하였으며, 컴퓨터 사보 프로그램 사용법 등 교사들이 개별적으로 학습을 할 수 있는 사이트를 안내하여 교사들이 자료로 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 이 연구는 연구의 객관성을 확보하고 현장에 실질적인 도움을 제공하기 위하여 30명의 초등학교 오케스트라 지휘자를 대상으로 한 요구 조사 결과를 토대로 작성되었다. 또한 전문적이고 체계적인 지침서를 마련하고자 국내외의 오케스트라 관련 서적을 참고하고, 프로 오케스트라 지휘자, 악기 연주자, 초등학교 오케스트라 지도 교사 등과의 면담을 토대로 작성된 것이다. 따라서 오케스트라 창단에서 연주회에 이르기까지 오케스트라 전반적인 운영에 어려움을 겪고 있는 초등학교 현장의 많은 지도 교사들에게 유익한 자료가 될 것으로 판단된다. * 본 논문은 2012년 6월 서울교육대학교 교육대학원 위원회에 제출 된 석사학위 논문임.

초등학교 교육실습 지도교사 역량 분석 : 음악교과 교육실습을 중심으로
