How to educate has become one of the most debated issues of film education. This study aims at examine the curriculum of the film education in secondary school. The study investigated 18 students in Ewoo high school and the classwork was done from March 2004 to January 2005 with a researcher. Although this study has the limit which is the study against a small number of instances, it has the significant meaning that is the first research into a real film education in Korea. The research area is methods of teaching and learning film, the principles of film education, the problem of film education and alternative plans against it.
This study analyses the case study in Ewoo high school and it discusses the result and a limit. It will be a basis of developing abilities to appreciate originality and to make film led by students.
The teaching and learning methods must be established in the film education in order to encourage creative and imaginative thinking. This should be included as a core of film education curriculum. The practice in class should provide students with a lot of opportunities to explore and develop their critical literacy and creative film making, and to think independently.
