1. The problems of this study.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the stress factors of high-grade elementary school children and relationship between stress and academic achievement. In order to solve the purpose of this study, the problems of this study were specified as follows:
1) In what shape dose the whole distribution and the order appears?
2) Are there the difference of stress in the sex and the region?
3) To what degree dose the degrees of stress to the academic achievement correlate in the sex and the region?
the subjects of this study was compose of randomly assigned 200 sixth grade school children (the male 50 and female 50 children from city the male 50 and female 50 children from rural region). They were asked to answer a questionnaire made by this researcher. and standardized Academic Test (Korean, Arithmelic) on 1997,
Data were treaded using x^(2) and pearson r.
Major findings of this study of this study were follows:
1) The Categories which children are more suffered from are childrens associates, academic achievement, external features and the categories not suffered from are the relationship to teacher parent and home environment.
2) Comparing stress with the sex, boys and girls achieving middle level of academics are suffered from stress, and boys are more suffered from stress in home, but girls are more suffered from stress in associattes, appearances, and parent categories.
Comparing stress with region, boys from rural region are more suffered form stress in home category and boys from city are more suffered from stress in associates and appearances.
3) Taking a view of correlation between stress score and academic achievement, there is negative correlation (r=-.17) in whole distribution, also negative correlation (r=-.12) in boys and negative correlation (r=-.23) in girls. There is negative correlation (r=-.15) in children from city and also negative correlation (r=-.28) in children from rural region.
