The purpose of this study is to collect the example of redundancy and presoribe the conception of it, to clarify the cause of generating it through classfying the types, and to prepare the basis to refine undesirable redundancy which is not necessary in communication. The redundancy appearing in the rhetoric of European language is, as we have seen above, mostly considered as pointless expressions added unnecessary things excessively. But in the structural description of linguistics, as we can see in the category of conformable grammar, the redundancy is described as necessary phenomena because we think every language has the same of it. The study of redundancy in Korean has not been deep and it is not dealt with in syntax or rhetoric, so we don't have the basis for the fitness of expressions. But I set up new standards as follows.
First, it is acceptable not to refine morphological structures which are overlapped by a language of Korean's own in Korean redundancy. For example, the language forms of "willow tree, the third day, summer season" are more generally used than "willow, the thirs, summer" in Korean language.
Second, the redundancy which has morphological structures and has been contained by dictionaries is a good example which is not necessary to be refined. A lot of dictionaries contain the words "the very middle, the very first time, each piece, the house of one's wife's home, daisy flower, raindrop water, take concrete shape, be taken concrete shape" as one word.
Third, even if it is surely redundancy from the view point of etymology, it is not necessary to be refined if the redundancy has different meanings. For instance, the word "daisy" is used to discriminate plants but "daisy flower" means a flowering plant.
Fourth, even if it is surely redundancy from the view point of etymology, it is not necessary for the redundancy to be refined if one of the factors of the redundancy has varied meanings. For example, we are likely to consider the words "big great gate, white shirt" as redundancy. But in Korean the words "great gate, shirt" do not mean "big gate, white shirt" but "the main doorway of a house, shirts in many kinds of color". So this kind of redundancy needs not to be refined.
Fifth, when the same words used doubly mean plural of the word or they have variations of conception such as "place after place, day after day, higher and higher", they are considered as reduplications and are excluded from redundancy to be refined.
Sixth, all of the redundancy of syntactic structures which has pointless expressions added unnecessary things excessively should be refined. But polite expressions often used in lectures, speeches, advertisement and propaganda such as "couldn't help doing so like that, I pray for it very very cagerly" should be accepted as proper expressions when they are used in spoken language.
