This study was attempted to examine the effects of anxiety on accademic achivement of students with equal intellectual ability when the anxiety levels were experimenfally manipulated.
In order to do this, 96 juinor high school mate students were sampled. The were divided into five groups according to their intellectual ability(IQ), and then each IQ group was also divided into three anxiety groups(high, medium and low) and the differences of academic achivement levels among them were assessed(Survey Study). The preset study was also conducted to determine whether or not Ellis' R-E-T teachniques were effectively applied for lowering the anxiety level of students (Experimental study).
The following conclusions were obtained through the study :
1) When the intellectual ability was in the medium level, Students those who had high and low anxiety levels were interrupted in their academic achivement while those who had the highest under the medium anxiety level :
2) When high anxiety level was lowered through the use of R-E-T fechniques, the academic achievement of students with medium IQ levels was increased.
