신문을 활용한 다문화 교육활동이 유아의 타문화에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 신문을 활용한 다문화 교육활동이 유아의 타문화에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향을 밝히는데 있다. 이를 위하여 서울시에 소재한 두 곳의 어린이집 만 5세 34명을 실험집단과 비교집단으로 선정하였다. 실험집단에게는 국가수준의 교육과정에 따라 16개 소주제를 계획하여 신문을 활용하여 교육하였으며, 비교집단은 정규 교육과정으로 수업을 진행하였다. 연구 결과 신문을 활용한 다문화 교육활동을 시행한 집단의 타문화에 대한 태도에 인지적 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미한 수준으로 증가하였다. 타문화에 대한 태도의 정서적 영역 부분에서 타문화에 대한 선호도는 실험집단과 비교집단이 변화되는 양상이 다르게 나타났다. 타문화의 선호 이유에서는 실험집단의 점수가 비교집단 보다 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서 앞선 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 신문을 활용한 다문화 교육활동이 유아의 타문화에 대한 태도를 향상시키는데 보다 효과적인 방법임을 시사한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of multi-cultural education using newspaper in early childhood in context of the children's attitudes toward other cultures. In two kindergartens in Seoul, 34 children aged five years were assigned to either experimental group or comparison group. Those in the experimental group were received newspaper-based education with 16 subsections according to national education system, and the others in the comparison group were given regular education. As a result, the experimental group, received multi-cultural educational activities using newspapers, statistically demonstrates the significant increase in attitude towards other cultures in cognitive areas. The experimental and the comparison groups differently displayed the change in preference towards foreign cultures in emotional areas. The experimental group significantly scored higher than the comparison group in the part of the reasons behind the preference towards other cultures. Therefore, the result addresses that the newspaper-based multi-cultural education enhances the attitude of foreign cultures in early childhood.
