The main purpose of this study is to examine the pathway that maternal parenting behavior, adolescents' self-esteem and attributional Style affect on adolescents' internalizing problem behavior. The subject were 400 3rd grade junior high school and girls´ junior high school living in Seoul. Data were gathered via four questionnaires.
Data were analysed by Structural equation model using 18.0
The main findings of this study were summarized as follows:
First, maternal parenting behavior didn't directly affect on adolescents' internalizing problem behavior.
Second, maternal parenting behavior didn't find affection on adolescents' internalizing problem behavior through adolescents' self-esteem and attributional Style. But maternal parenting behavior appeared in the indirect effects that affected on attributional Style through adolescents' self-esteem. Therefore, as mother had high support and low parenting behavioral of psychological control to their children, adolescents' self-esteem was high so it was showed internal attribution style.
Third, it appeared the indirect effects that maternal parenting behavior affected internalizing problem behavior through adolescents' self-esteem. Therefore, as mother had high support and low parenting behavioral of psychological control to their children, adolescents had high self-esteem. So it decreased problem behavior.
Finally, it didn't appear the indirect effects that maternal parenting behavior affected on internalizing problem behavior through adolescents' internal attribution.
In conclusion, among maternal parenting behavior, adolescents' self-esteem and attribution, as it is found that it affected on internalizing problem behavior. Through this finding, it could find especially importance of adolescents' personal internal attribute and influence of maternal parenting behavior.
This study is focused on basic information by processing method of parent-education program, consultation to prevent adolescents' internalizing problem behavior and the necessity of program development for improving adolescents' self-esteem through result of indirect influence.
