전래동화를 활용한 한국 문화 교육 방안 연구 = (A) study on Korean cultural education methodology applying traditional fairy tales

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study seeks to present a method which, utilizing traditional fairy tales, can be easily utilized in daily school lessons. It draws upon traditional fairy tales which, imbued as they are with exceptional cultural and linguistic characteristics, serve as an excellent cultural medium, one which has long been used as an effective pedagogical means of helping people assimilate the Korean culture.
Although traditional fairy tales have passed down by word of mouth, they have complete themes and stories. Even they imply the nature of the time's culture and social background. Thus, from words based on the culture to idiomatic expressions, the terms are useful in gaining Koran cultural background knowledge. traditional fairy tales can be provided as literary texts for learners, and the cultural background on which they are based is suitable for cultural education. Therefore, this study endeavors to present a methodology for teaching Korean culture through the traditional fairy tales.
The chapters of this study will seek to achieve the following objectives:
In the first chapter, presented the necessity and the purpose of this study, and examined the preceding researches.
In the second chapter, after considering certain definitions of culture, and facing the necessity of a cultural education. And the foundation for the use of traditional fairy tales, as was established in Korean education, will be explored, through an examination of the characteristics of traditional fairy tales.
In the third chapter, analyzed the cultural educational contents of <Heungbu and Nolbu> and <The Wenny Old Man>. This chapter focused on three components 'linguistic culture', 'moral culture', and 'living culture', as those cultural aspects most helpful, perhaps even required, for an appropriate education of the Korean culture through the use of its traditional fairy tales.
In the fifth chapter, the process of education about Korean culture in a class utilizing a selected traditional fairy tale (<Heungbu and Nolbu> and <The Wenny Old Man>) will be outlined.
This study seeks to set forth procedures and methods of education so that a sound cultural education can be accomplished in a Korean class setting, through the use of fairy tales containing many levels of cultural meaning. There may be a limitation to this study in that a result may not appear so immediately after using this particular teaching method.
Even though this study has some limitation, nevertheless, it is meaningful that it seeks to present a realistic class model by suggesting the selection criteria for traditional fairy tales for a Korean cultural education. It is also meaningful that the method of cultural reconstruction of traditional fairy tales herein set forth can serve as a source of useful material for effective cultural education.
