어머니의 양육효능감이 유아의 정서지능 및 자아개념에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Mother's Efficacy on Children's Emotional Intelligence and Self-Concepts

The purpose of this study is examining the effects of mother’s efficacy on children’s emotional intelligence and self-concepts.
These following study questions are set up for accomplishing the research content.
1. Are there any differences on mother’s efficacy according to mother’s variables, such as, age, school career, and the state of employment?
1-1. Are there any differences on mother’s efficacy according to mother’s age?
1-2. Are there any differences on mother’s efficacy according to mother’s school career?
1-3. Are there any differences on mother’s efficacy according to mother’s state of employment?
2. Are there any differences on mother’s efficacy depending on children’s variables like gender and age?
2-1. Are there any differences on mother’s efficacy depending on children’s gender?
2-2. Are there any differences on mother’s efficacy depending on children’s age?
3. Are there any differences on children’s emotional intelligence and self-concepts in accordance with children’s variables, such as gender and age?
3-1. Are there any differences on children’s emotional intelligence and self-concepts in accordance with children’s gender?
3-2. Are there any differences on children’s emotional intelligence and self-concepts in accordance with children’s age?
4. Would mother’s efficacy affect on both children’s emotional intelligence and self-concepts?
4-1. Would mother’s efficacy affect on children’s emotional intelligence?
4-2. Would mother’s efficacy affect on children’s self-concepts?
This study was intended for 230 children, who are 4 or 5 years old and attending either public or private preschool and kindergarten which located in Daegu and Gyeong-buk , and their mothers.
As the research appliance, the survey was used to determine mother’s efficacy, and in order to examine children’s emotional intelligence, the questionnaire of emotional intelligence for teacher was used. The questionnaire for children was also used to measure children’s self-concepts.
According to each research question, the data was calculated into average and standard deviation, and to evaluate interrelation between each subordinate factor, Pearson correlation coefficient, regrrelation analysis, and multiple analysis were operated. The results of this study are following:
1. Mother’s efficacy exists depending on mother’s personal variables. Mother who is older and has higher education showed high efficacy in discipline than mother who is not, and mother who is employed showed high efficacy in communication as compared to mother who is not employed.
2. Mother’s efficacy showed differences according to children’s gender and age. Higher efficacy occurred among girls than boys, and according to age, higher efficacy evolved along with children who are 4 years old than who are 5 years old.
3. Children’s emotional intelligence and self-concepts demonstrated differences in accordance with gender and age. Great emotional intelligence showed amongst girls than boys, and according to age, children who are 5 years old have great emotional intelligence than children who are 4 years old. No specific gap was shown in self-concepts according to children’s gender and age; however, comparatively, boys showed higher ethical self-concepts than girls, and children who are 5 years old have higher social self-concepts than 4 years old children.
4. The effects of mother’s efficacy on children’s emotional intelligence and self-concepts seem to not influence children’s emotional intelligence aggregately, but showed correlation with each subordinate factor respectively. Mother’s efficacy appeared to be affect children’s self-concepts, and a significant interrelation revealed between mother’s efficacy and children’s emotional intelligence and self-concepts.
