The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of school support and counselor self- efficacy on perception to professionalism of professional school counselors.
The research questions were set up as follows:
First, are there any differences of school support, counselor self- efficacy and perception to professionalism by age groups or the existence of the teaching careers?
Second, are there any effects that the school support and counselor self- efficacy have on the perception to professionalism of professional school counselors according to the exsitence of the teaching careers?
For this study,「School support scale of professional School counselors」,「counselor Self-efficacy scale for Korean counselors」, and「Perception to Professionalism scale for professional School counselors」were used to the 138 professional school counselors(29 men and 109 women) in the whole country.
The data were analyzed by 「Pearson′s Correlation」, 「One-Way ANOVA」, and 「Numerous Regression Analysis」.
the results of this study are as follows:
First, there were significant differences in the counselor self- efficacy according to age groups.
Second, there were significant differences in the perception to professionalism according to the existence of the profession teaching careers.
Third, the result of the「Numerous Regression Analysis」 showed that physical environment and compensation, cognition and trust of the counseling were the important variable to improve the perception to professionalism of the professional school counselors from the school teachers.
Forth, the result of the「Numerous Regression Analysis」 showed that role understanding and autonomy were the important variable in predicting the level of perception to professionalism of professional school counselors from the non-school teachers.
