The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the waldorf early Childhood Program with Naturalistic Sensory Development Play Activities, and orthodox waldorf early childhood program, and the seventh early childhood program on improving young children's multiple intelligence and creativity.
Two research question were established for this study. First, what is the effect of waldorf early childhood program with Naturalistic Sensory Development Play activities, orthodox waldorf early childhood program, and the seventh early childhood program on young children's multiple intelligence? Second, what is the effect of waldorf early childhood program with Naturalistic Sensory Development Play activities, orthodox waldorf early childhood program, and the seventh early childhood program on young children's creativity.
The subject of this study were 36 of 4-6 year old young children at D kindergarten and I kindergarten at Bundang. These kindergartens are age-integrated. They were group A(5 boys and 7 girls), group B(7 boys and 5 girls)of D kindergarten, and group C(6 boys and 6 girls) of I kindergarten. While the B group was engaged in Naturalistic Sensory Development Play Activities based on waldorf early childhood program for 8 weeks, the A group was engaged in orthodox waldorf early childhood program, and the C group was engaged in the seventh early childhood program.
The Figural forms(pretest and posttest) of MIQ(Mutiple Intelligence Quotient) were used to measure the young children's multiple intelligence. and The Figural forms(A type for pretest and posttest)of TTCT were used to measure the creativity.
Statistical methods used to analyze the data are as follows. First, One-way ANOVA was used to see if three groups were homogeneous in pre-test scores of multiple intelligence and creativity. Second, ANCOVA and Scheffe' was conducted to see if post-test scores of multiple intelligence and creativity had differences between three groups.
The results of this study are as follows.
First, there was a statistically significant difference in the posttest of multiple intelligence scores between the B group(Naturalistic Sensory Development Play Activities based on waldorf early childhood program), A group(orthodox waldorf early childhood program) and, C group(seventh early childhood program). The mean score of B group was higher than that of A group. C group was the lowest.
B group showed a significant difference in the sector of the spatial intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, naturalistic intelligence with comparison C group. B group showed a significant difference in the sector of the linguistic intelligence with comparison A group and C group. there was no significant difference in the sector of musical intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence and logical-mathematical intelligence between the groups.
Second, there was a statistically significant difference in the posttest of creativity between the B group(Naturalistic Sensory Development Play Activities based on waldorf early childhood program) and C group(seventh early childhood program. but, there was no significant difference in the creativity between B group and A group(orthodox waldorf early childhood program). The mean score of B group in the creativity was higher than that of A group. A group is in the middle. C group was the lowest.
B group and A group showed a significant difference in the sector of the originality, abstractness, elaboration with comparison C group. A group showed a significant difference in the sector of the originality and openness with comparison C. there was no significant difference in the sector of fluency between the groups.
This results suggest that Naturalistic Sensory Development Play Activities based on waldorf early childhood program may increase young children's multiple intelligence and creativity.
