그림책을 활용한 다문화교육프로그램이 일반초등학생의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 그림책을 활용한 다문화교육프로그램을 일반초등학생에게 적용하였을 때 일반초등학생의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보는 데 있다. 본 연구의 진행을 위하여 경기도 성남시 중원구에 위치한 S초등학교 5학년 1개 학급(총 28명)을 대상으로 하여, 초등학교 5학년 학생의 발달 단계 및 제 7차 교육과정 교과서의 내용을 토대로 세계민주시민으로서의 자질 함양이라는 측면을 고려하여 ‘나’에서부터 출발하여 주변의 친구, 이웃, 그리고 세계까지 점차 관계를 확대해 나가면서 학생들이 가지기 쉬운 편견과 고정관념에 대해 알아볼 수 있도록 설계하였다. 자료 수집을 위하여 Rothfarb(1992)가 연구에 사용한 Ambrosio(1998)의 Multicultural Questionnaire(MCR) 검사 도구의 문항 중 다문화 인식 측정 척도를 사용하였다.
그림책을 활용한 다문화교육프로그램이 일반초등학생의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향을 종합 분석한 결과 수업을 실시하기 전보다 수업을 실시한 후 학생들의 다문화 인식의 전체 점수가 의미 있게 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 다문화 인식의 3개 범주인 ‘수용성’, ‘존중성’, ‘개방성’의 평균점수의 변화는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보여(p<0.05), 그림책을 활용한 다문화교육프로그램을 통해 학생들이 가지고 있는 다문화 인식의 변화에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The goal of this research is to uncoverthe effect that multicultural education program using picture book has on common elementary students’ multicultural awareness. For this research, one 5th grade level class (total of 28 students) from S elementary school located in Jungwon-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do was selected. The research was designed considering the 5th grade elementary student’s development stage and based on the 7th curriculum textbook’s information. Based on the characteristic of world’s citizenship cultivation, the research started from "me"and connected to nearby friends, neighbors, and then gradually expanded to the world in order to uncover the bias and stereotypes that students easily form. Among the Ambrosio(1998)’s Multicultural Questionnaire (MCR) test tools that Rothfarb(1992) research used, the multicultural awareness measurement scale was used for material collection.
The comprehensive result analysis of the effect that multicultural education program using picture book has on common elementary student’s multicultural awareness showed that all the scores of the student’s multicultural awareness increased meaningfully after the class compared to the score before the class. A significant difference was shown (p<0.05) statistically among the average scores of multicultural awareness’ three categories which are ‘acceptance’, ‘respect’ and ‘openness’. Therefore the multicultural education program using picture book affected a change in the student’s multicultural awareness.
